ECKMF64 Whirlpool Ice Maker - Instructions

I removed the cover to assembly ,3 screws and it came right off. points were wore out. Thank you for a prompt delivery. It was delivered much faster then I expected.

first i removed 1 screw, then pulled out the ice maker, unpluged the electrical wire, i removed the white plastic cover , then an additional 3 screws . i pulled off the ice maker control . replaced with new ice maker control. i repeated the steps to put back the ice maker ...so

When I took the ice maker apart I noticed that the shaft of the motor control wheel was broken so when it turned it could not trip the control contacts nor rotate the ice ejector fingers. I ordered a new control and motor assembly which arrived two days later. It was very easy to install and now the ice maker works perfectly.

1. Removed all 4 screws underneath with nutdriver
2. Whole assembly slides out like a drawer
3. Unplugged power/wire harness
4. Removed Motor Assembly - 3 screws
5. Found the broken plastic wheel
6. Ordered part on PartsSelect

7. Received new part next day

9. Slid unit back into drawer
10. Put the 4 Nut Driver Screws back in (tricky to get the wire harness cover back in place, but not that bad)
11. Plugged in wire harness
12. Turned on the ice-maker
Ice Dropped within the hour.

Read on line that the motor module in the ice maker was likely to be the problem. I ordered the part and it came in as a complete module. All I had to do was to remove the cover, take out 3 philips screws, remove the old module and install the new one. I plugged it back in and had ice within the hour.

Removed old ejector arm and installed new part.

Turned off ice maker. Remove one screw with nut driver (1/4") that hold plugin cover. Push the release lock, (up) on bottom of Ice maker to slide unit out enough to unplug and remove ice maker out of freezer. remove white side cover and replace control unit. Open the icemaker service, door slide it out, remove wiring, remove ice maker control cover,remove 3screw, put new one in, put everything back together and with in 6 hours we have ice again. PS my husband did it though.

Unplugged the frig., removed three screws, pulled the motor out, then slid the new motor in. Within a few hours I had ice again. Unplugged the refrigerator. No need to remove the entire icemaker (IM). Removed the old module by taking out the 3 screws and carefully wiggling it free from the icemaker. I just removed on ... Read more e screw and disconnected the electrical. There were four screws holding the motor assembly on. So I put the new motor on and had ice in 30 mnutes.

Note: I thought the motor was bad, it was actually one of the gears. Order the motor-gear module. You will probably receive the motor-gear module if you order the motor only.

I removed the hex bolt on the right side of the ice maker. Removed the whole assembly from the refrigerator, diconnecting the cable as I pulled it out ... Read more . I use a philips screw driver to remove the three scews holding the motor gear assembly. I pulled off the motor/gear module; installed the new motor gear assembly. Reinstalled the ice maker. Easy!

The Whirlpool water inlet valve was better design than the original. All I had to do was drill 2 holes to mount it since it didn't mount in the same location as the old one. I liked the push in connection for the water outlet to the ice maker better than the original plastic screw connection.
