CSS25USWASS Hotpoint Refrigerator - Instructions

Used small screw driver to pry the top of the switch away from left inside wall of freezer side of side-by-side refrig./freezer; then used pliers to remove the switch; then removed the 3 prong socket and plugged it to new switch and installed it into the inside wall of the freezer.

Followed instructions and it was very easy

Extract the ice dispenser, unscrew the four screws for releasing the top plastic cover, release the mechanism in charge of opening the bottom ice exit, use two flat screwdrivers for releasing the whole part containing the drive cup, extract it and replace the drive cup, put it back in place, engage the lever, screw the cover again. Ready!

Solenoid pushing the crushed ice flapper was burned out. Solenoid was easy to find unplug and replace. I used the old piston which simplified things. Now works great

A very simple install. Requires the removal of 4 screws and plugging in new heating element refer to the excellent diagrams provided on line

Unplugged power cord, removed back panel, disconnected wires, removed existing control board, installed new control board, reconnected wires, replaced back panel, plugged in power cord. The video instructions made it really easy. Saved at least $100.00 doing it myself. Awesome!

Followed the online video exactly and it was easily done. Couldn't have been better. The problem is solved.

The installation was quite easy, especially if you still had the old one for visual (I didn't). Snapped in easily once you got the geometry correct. Hook the right side first, bend slightly in the middle and it should snap into the slot on the left. What I didn't account for was that the entire unit was no longer working (kept filling water in tray and overflowing) so I ended up having to buy an entire ice maker replacement unit anyway. Be careful if you do buy the replacement unit though. Not all parts are actually universal for all models (I.e., stripper arm and refill cups vary) so hold onto your old parts just in case.

I repaired IAW the PartSelect video. Very easy. One thing that should be mentioned in the troubleshooting process, is to check the retention spring on the flapper. That spring could come off and also cause the flapper not to close.

Turned power off at breaker. Took off front panel on the door. Unscrewed the panel where the electrical parts were plugged in. Then you could unscrew the old solenoid assembly and install the new one. Cleaned around the Ice shute since some mold was there. Put all back together. We watched the video from you tube about 5 times!!

Followed the Parts Select video step-by-step. It was exactly as the video described and took about 5 minutes (though I already had the cover off). Almost a week later and the refrigerator is running fine.

The repair is a snap, you can watch the video and it will put you on the right path. My story is more about the service that Part Select gave me. I used a small box fan on low as a temporary fix. My model number was worn off from the box wine we store in that particular place. So I ordered the part based on looks, well it was wrong. Called Part Select and we talked, the nice lady on the other end said OH it must be this fan motor. Send us back that one, and I'll get this out too you. I'll credit your account for $7.99, and it cost me $8.99 to ship back the wrong part. Wow, the next day I received the new motor. They sent it overnight! I thought it would be 5-6 days! Unbelievable. I will use this company for any, and all my repairs.

The instruction sheet (2-pages) supplied with the main control board were simple to follow. I removed the cover in back, carefully unplugged all the cable connectors, unscrewed the green ground wire, and lightly pinched the four white mounting pins with my fingers to release the old board. I then snapped the new board onto the four white pins, plugged all the cables back in, attached the ground wire under the closest available screw, and closed it up. I did not need to cut any wires. Plugged the refrigerator in and it's been running fine all day. The whole job took less than 10 minutes.
