CSK20GABGAD Hotpoint Refrigerator - Instructions

Followed other messages to complete fix. Simple overall.

Please note that if you buy the hinge assembly, you get spacer parts that mate. If you don't you have to hack-saw the rivot off the old hinge assembly to do your repair. Hinge assembly cost more but less work.

The refrigerator door would now close and notice broken plastic on the floor. It is a 1990 or so GE fridge. To repair - ordered the Cam Riser (the plastic piece that broke and the matching lower door bracket.

Easy job .. around 20 minutes.

I could see a broken part but couldn't tell exactly how it was oriented on the hinge. I bought just the cam riser but then thought I needed the hinge kit based on what I read on this site. Read more y case) - I only needed the upper one...a very inexpensive repair. Do NOT remove the door for this repair. Slide the door up a bit while closed and use a pint-sized paint can to prop it up. Make the repair and remove the can...done.

First I bought the right tool to remove the hinges.
Then replaced the hinge with the two cams.
Now the door closes itself.

Just remove all items in door shelves, remove screw holding top hinge cover on. Remove two bolts holding top hinge and remove hinge from door. Carefully open door and lift out of bottom hinge. Use several wood blocks and propped fridge dooe up and someone else steadied the door while I replaced the hinge. Pretty easy.

they sell the cam piece but the instructions says not to replace only one part. so beware you need both the cam and hinge as a kit .

Turned refrigerator off. Removed food from right hand (refig.) door. Closed door. Removed upper hinge cover with a standard Phillips screwdriver and then removed upper hinge by removing two 5/16" bolts using nutdriver. Read more rator and then removed the bottom hinge-post which was attached with two more 5/16" bolts. Installed new lower hinge post and rubbed a small amount of mineral oil on the closing cam (which is riveted to the hinge-post). Removed the old upper closing cam from the door (5/16" bolts) while it as lying horizontal on the table and installed new cam lubricated with a small amount of mineral oil. dropped the door in place, replaced upper hinge and cover. Replaced kick pan. Done.

Emptied glass shelf, removed , removed old rail. Put new rail in with original screws ,then glass shelf. Done

blocked up refrigerator door.removed old hinge, and put new one on,with socket set.

This is a side-by-side unit. After blocking up the closed refrigerator door to the correct height to match the freezer door, I removed the lower hinge pin assembly by taking out two bolts. Save the shims (my had two) for the new hinge pin. Then remove the cam riser from the bottom of the door by taking out two bolts. Install the new cam ... Read more riser on the bottom on the door. Removed old part & screwed in new rail.

Removed top hinge assembly to pull door away from bottom hinge (2x hex bolts) Discovered that the pin on the bottom assembly had broken off. Removed and replaced bottom hinge assembly (2x hex bolts). Aligned door with top and bottom hinge pins. Tightened all hex bolts. Done

I followed the many post on replacing this part and everything went well. I had a little trouble getting the hinge post into the new hinge assembly, but with a slight adjustment it fell into place. The only advice I can add to what everyone else has said is you should look the job over a little before you take the door off and have your tools ready. Then you won't have the door off for too long. I'd like to thank this site and everyone who gave advice on how to fix this problem. It made the whole job very easy.

It was really easy for me....my son told me what part I needed. I ordered it, and he installed it!
