CFE28TP2MJS1 General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

1. Verified good water flow by unplugging incoming water and makIng sure there was good pressure.

2. Re-attached water supply line and unplugged water line after the electronic valve to test water pressure from valve when hitting the dispense button in the front of the refrigerator.

Replaced valve and now everything is good. (Refrigerator is less than 2 years old)

Remove all trays, no need to turn app. off,
remove cover on top of back panel, may be a little difficult
remove 2 screws , one behind top plate, one in the middle of large back cover.
remove small cover located at the bottom of the back cover discinnect electrical plug,
remove or loosen 6 screws on lower evap co ... Read more ver, there is no need to remove evap cover, just pry it loose from back.
lift back cover off and disconnect electrical fan will be at the bottom of the large cover.
run warm water over fan and push out.
remove rubber cover and install on new fan,
reinstall new fan and reverse process.
very easy and simple and only takes about 30 minutes.

I asked two strong male neighbors to do the work and told them how to do it. Follow the simple directions on the box. You can Google it, but it will tell you the same directions.

I ordered the correct part, the box said it was the correct part and when I opened the box a completely different part was inside. Not only was it the wrong part but it was loosely wrapped with very thin plastic and the hinge was broken off of the lid and laying in the box. One email was answered to return the part I would have to pay shipping and the part could not be damaged. Okay, the part was wrong, the part was broken. Now what should I do? Please respond.

Simply take off the back panel. Remove the old run capacitor which is attached to the compressor by a white part. It pulls right off. You will have to unplug two wires. I took a pic to ensure I plugged the wires back up the correct way. Then I attached the new capacitor to the white part and put on the sleeve that was included, plugge ... Read more d it back into the compressor and zip tied the excess part of the sleeve. Once done plug fridge back up (always unplug electric devices when doing maintenance) to check before replacing back panel. It may take a few minutes before it kicks on.

Safety first, unplug fridge. Had to remove the top access panel, which consisted of 5 screws. Got access to the door switches. These are removed from the panel by depressing the plunger on the switch and sliding them out of the retainer. Transferred the wires over to the new switches one for one. Re-assembled. Dispenser works.

Slipped into place easily.

Purchased parts per your diagram and went to a appliance store to see how it was assemble

Pull the fridge out from the wall.
Close the water supply valve.
Unplug the appliance.
Using a nutdriver , remove the panel at the lower rear. Set aside.
Disconnect the water supply line from the solenoid valve.
Using the nutdriver, remove the defective water valve.
Disconnect the electrical connector noting ... Read more orientation.
Remove the black safety device from the valve where the quick connect line goes to the dispenser. Depress the ring on the fitting and remove the gray dispenser line.
Discard the defective valve.
Insert the dispenser line into the quick connect fitting on the new valve. Ensure that the line goes all the way into the fitting.
Reconnect the electrical connector.
Install the valve and connect the supply line.
Reinstall the panel.
Open the supply line valve.
Plug in the refrigerator.
Test. There well be some gurgling as water refills the system.
If no leaks and water dispenses properly, push the fridge back against the wall.

I followed the directions included with the water filter and it was simple. The only problem I had was not being strong enough to easily remove the old filter. I did accomplish that after a few tries and the rest is history.

Replace fan . Fairly easy.

SO BACK TO PARTS SELECT, THIS TIME I BOUGHT ONE MORE PT, THE RUN CAPACITOR, FIVE MIN, THAT/S ALL IT TOOK TO INSTALL. I DID NOT KNOW AT THE TIME YOU NEED THE THREE OF THEM TO RUN THE FREEZER ONE TO KEEP THE TEMP., ONE TO KEEP THE FAN RUNNING THE WAY IT SHOULD, AND THE THIRD TO MAKE SURE THE OTHER TWO KEEP RUNNING. NOW I CAN SET IT AT 4- 5 AND. FREEZE.

Pulled the instructions up on U-tube and followed them. With the socket removed 5 small bolts. Took the old switches ( I replaced both switches being I had it apart), put the new switches in and then put the 5 bolts back in.

Installing the part repaired the fridge and freezer immediately.

Replaced the water solenoid that has a filter/screen as part of the unit.
Removed the back bottom plate. Turned off water supply, removed hose from water valve. Removed valve assembly, and un-pluged wiring. Installed new unit reverse of removal
