Read more OK and fault likely isolated to relay - - overload cap seemed to be ok - but decided to replace entire unit (relay and cap) - ordered on partselect.com - video showing how easy repair was very helpful - replaced it - and DONE!

I tried to remove the old light switch using a putty knife and a hammer. It was hard to compress the plastic tabs to pull it back through the hole, but all of a sudden, the lights came on. I guess banging on the switch freed-up the contacts. The new switch is now a spare part in case I need it.

tested that water got to inlet valve, but not past it. the rod inside the pump was separated from the plunger. i ordered part. i was quite impressed that i got part within two days. replaced valve. ice maker works.

One mnorning the temp on the frig was in the 50's and the freezer was cold. Tried to get someone to come out and repair with no luck. We purchased a new frig. Then I decided to see if I could repair the old one to use. I wish I had discovered partselect before I bought the new one. First I thought from the web site that it was a over ... Read more load/relay problem so I ordered it and changed it out and it was very easy. Then that did not correct the problem so I checked further and discovered that it could be the defrost heat element and thermostat. On partselect web site I saw where if your coil is covered in ice that this could be the reason. I ordered them and watched the video of how to change them out. The video is a little misleading because chances are you will not have the room around the coil that it shows on the video and also the element and thermostat will not come as one unit as shown on the video. It is still easy to cut the wires ont he thermostat and install it. The heat element is a little tricky to get out and back in and the clips that holds yours might be a little different and more difficult to do than the video but you can do it. All in all I spent about 160. 00 And the frig is working like new.

I pulled the frige out, took off the cover from the bottom with a nut driver. Took off the safety clip then pulled the plug out from the relay then the relay came out. Replaced the part and reinstalled the same way. This was really easy and fast.

followed the video as instructed. Saved two repairman calls, one to find the problem, one to install. Net savings was about $130.00

After receiving the new part almost immediately,using two screw drivers, removed the broken switch from the plastic frame. Be careful not to scratch or otherwise tear the plastic...very pliable. Since the original switch was factory installed and the wires were packed in fiberglass insulation, the switch came out but the wires and clips ... Read more were still in place and could not reach the new switch. It was necessary to pull them down with bent long nose pliers...used a lot of "pull" but the wires held up.Connected the switch, turned the power on and there was light! Reports from other users really took the uncertainty out of the task.
