Discovered that the fan in the freezer was not working properly. Removed the ice maker, paneling, wire harness and inserted new motor. Worked immediately and began circulating the cold air into the refrigerator.

We had a refrigerator that had no ice maker at all, but it had the wiring behind the freezer panel and the wiring for the solenoid valve at the bottom of the refrigerator. The icemaker came with very easy to understand instructions the installation took less than 45 min. that included installing the selinoid valve and waterline I had a nearby waterpipe, the acual icemaker took about 5 min. to install it in the freezer.

Rather than pay a repairman an assessment fee, then the cost of the repair to the existing icemaker, I decided to replace the icemaker for a lot less. Read more pting to replace the icemaker. I watched a video on YouTube about replacing an icemaker and saw how easy it could be. Following the enclosed directions, and Wow!, it was extremely easy to remove and add the new icemaker. Don't pay to have someone else do it! This is a no-brainer.

first remove ice maker 1-screw on the bottom all the way out and two screws on the top half way out slide up and out and unplug wiring as you remove then remove back panel unplug ground wire remove screws that hold fan assembly unplug wiring remove pressed on fan blade put new motor in reasemble and it was good to go

followed the video as instructed. Saved two repairman calls, one to find the problem, one to install. Net savings was about $130.00

Removed ice maker held on by 3 screws, took out 2 screws holding back panel, removed 2 screws holding bracket for fan motor, replaced evaporator fan motor and everything works great. Beware of thin splines, I have large hands and bummed up against them and slice one knuckle in 3 places which bleed profusely.

Removed the ice maker (3 screws) removed the back plate (2 screws) Remove the bracket holding the fan in (2 screws) Remove the rubber mounts on the old motor and the fan itself off the old motor. Then put it all back together in reverse order.

Read more removed motor with 2 screws, gently, but firmly pulled fan blade off (a little tricky due to housing bracket around it) carefully noting 2 soft rubber gaskets that holds the unit in bracket. replace motor with new one ... follow above steps in reverse. helpful to have a small flashlight. make sure soft rubber gaskets are seated in place. Fan blade requires a firm but gentle push back on the metal post ... bottom of back panel seats over an opening in order for it to fit snug against the wall. Removed the six screws holding the bottom access plate found at the rear of the refrigerator. This gives you easy access to the run capacitor that has a retaining clip. Remove the wire clip and pull out the capacitor (it has two quick disconnect terminals). Reverse the process using the new run capacitor to complete the repair.

After receiving the new part almost immediately,using two screw drivers, removed the broken switch from the plastic frame. Be careful not to scratch or otherwise tear the plastic...very pliable. It was necessary to pull them down with bent long nose pliers...used a lot of "pull" but the wires held up.Connected the switch, turned the power on and there was light! Reports from other users really took the uncertainty out of the task.
