Igniter insulation had cracked and spark was shorting out on the flame holder whatchmacallit.
4 of 5 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Melvin from Santa Maria, CA
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers
The flame holder twists about 1/2 inch to left and lifts off. I removed the two screws that holds the igniter on and removed it and installed the new igniter.
There was one complication: when I put it back together, there was no spark. I removed the ground wire and cleaned and scraped it and replaced it and still no spark. But, for n o apparent reason the spark returned and has been okay since.

My movers broke a knob off the range when moving it in. I didn't think I'd ever find one for a 4 year old over. Luckily I found one on PartSelect. I ordered it up and a couple days later just slid it onto the knob holder. Done!

Oven wouldn't heat

I didn't do it, but I suggest putting down newspaper to keep from having to clean up all the charred remains that will inevitably fall from the parts you have to remove. First, unplug the thing so you don't shock yourself. I removed all the racks for easy access to the drip pan, which had to be removed by unscrewing two screws. Then th ere was a cover over the flame area that also required two screws being removed. The coil had two screws connecting it, but first I had to pull out the drawer at the bottom, crawl under the unit and unplug the coil. I removed the two screws from the old coil and replaced it with the new one, but first I had to get back under and plug in the new coil. I was unprepared for the virtual small animals that were under the stove, so I took some time to clean out that mess. I tested the thing to make sure it would work, and it did. I put all the pieces back in reverse order and had some really good baked chicken for dinner. I also recommend using gloves, as all the soot is hell on your nice manicure.

broken oven door inner glass pane.

  • Adam from modesto, CA

Remove the door, remove screws from all sides

Remove sides and face of oven door by sliding down from under the oven handle trim.

Remove screws on 2nd light of glass and set aside.

Now you are at the inner door panes. their should be two in an insulated type unit.

Remove the remaining screws from the handle pracket and the permiter frame for the glass/insulation. Remove permiter frame and set aside.

Pull out inner door glass frame. get a pair of pliers and bend tab on frame up so you can pull the frame sightly apart, replace the glass, secure frame tightly around glass slide tab back into reciever slot and bend down ( you may need another person to assist in keeping both lights in the frame while trying to ben tab back in to place)

reassemble door as it came apart carefull not to over tighten the screws, they strip easy.

oven wouldn't heat up
3 of 3 people found this instruction helpful.
  • JILL from PLYMOUTH, IN
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers, Wrench (Adjustable)
I basically followed the video. The hardest part of the repair was trying to squeeze behind the oven to remove the back plate. Also the original screws holding the igniter took a small Allen wrench that I didn't have so I used an adjustable wrench. One screw was a little difficult but eventually got it tightened. Otherwise this was an eas y repair like other reviewers have said.

Gas was escaping from underneath the burner head
3 of 3 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Edward from ALEXANDRIA, VA
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Pliers
The old burner head had corroded allowing gas to come out at the bottom. The actual replacement is just turning the head, lifting it out, transferring two wires with slip-on connectors from the old burner to the new one, and dropping the new one in place. Most of the time was spent sanding away corroded metal on the base to make a good fit. The information on the burner head says that the company has decided not to use a gasket under the head. I suggest that was a bad decision.
