Removing the existing filter by rotating as directed and then dislodging from 'docking' station proved difficult. Turns out, the old filter is under a bit of vacuum pressure and getting the unit to separate or release was a challenge.

I removed the drop-down outer housing by gently prying the sides of the two pivot pins at the rear. This gave me move 'room' to grip and slightly rotate then pull the old filter forward and away from the tight suction connection. I was concerned that I would be too forceful for the plastic assemblies and would break something; deliberate

The easiest thing to do was pull the ice make off. After taking the 3 screws out of the wall of the freezer, take a screwdriver (flathead) and push on the tab for the electrical plug and wiggle the cord out. Then you can take 3 screws out for the main cover and another 2 screws on the next cover. There's the part, pop it out and replace h

Please note I had to remove the complete old wire harness from and install the new proper one as my part number was replaced with a new part number. The new ice maker repair kit comes with 2 new harnesses each slightly different one for a 22 cubic foot model the other for the 25cf model. It looks intimidating initially, just take pictures

FIRST BEFORE removing old harness to see all the connections. I was surprised this was necessary but it is, as the 'H" pin on the front of the new ice maker motor was different from my old one. Would have only taken me 15 minutes or so to replace the old ice maker but with having to remove the old harness and re-route the new harness it will take you a bit of time and patience but you can do it. Another note you will have to remove the Electromagnet to get to the green grounding screw on the ice maker itself. There are good videos on Part Select and youtube showing how to remove the ice maker itself, but did not find one on the wire harness, like I said just take lots of good pictures showing all the connection points on the old harness and take your time. It was not too hard. And now I have ice again!

Not a bad job at all. Took out the vegetable bins above, the glass cover and the sliding drawer. Then took out the screws holding the end caps on to the refrigerator wall. You can remove the metal slide at this time or after you take the old piece out. Then you re-install the metal slide on the new piece and screw it back in. THe rig

ht hand side is trickier because you also have to remove the mechanism in the back that controls the humidity inside the bin as well as the control lever in the front, so that you can install them on the new end cap. All the parts either snap on or you have to twist them slightly. We repaced both end caps as well as cleaned things really well in about 45 minutes, with 2 adults and a 10 yr old working together.
