AE5213 Dryer - Instructions

remove the housing under the dryer door. take out the lint trap. I took the whole bottom off the dryer to easily get to the tensioner pully. I then loosened the tub and slid off the old belt and replaced it.

Determined no air flow or heat through system even though dryer spun and timer worked. Ouside vent dispelled no air. Opened dryer panel.
Blower wheel/fan broken off from shaft. Googled appliance parts ... found ... Partselect .... keyed in mfg, model number ... schematics available ... found part ... ordered ... received in two ... Read more days ... installed ... reassembled. Working fine ! $ 30.00 compared to buying new dryer ! This was a refreshing and rewarding repair. If it could always be this smooth !!! This would be an easy job, if I were to do it again.

I needed to download a manual only to get ACCESS to the machine. Removing the outside lag bolts did NOT provide access.

It's an easy job, once you know the idiosyncracies of the construction of the machine. It's a major pain in the ass if you don't, even if you are used to replacing belts in other dryers.

Having done it once, the next time I could do it in under 20% of the time it took me the first time.

removed bottom panel.Has 2 screws on bottom.take belt off of idler. take 2 screws out of motor base.turn motor sideways& remove bolt from arm that holds idler. remove snapring holding idler. replace pully & reassemble in reverse. Thank You Partselect for prompt shipping. A+ Rating

The first time, I inserted the belt the wrong way. The drum turns a little bit then stops. The manufacturer does not give any instructions or drawings on their website on that particular model, only drawing of parts.I called the technical support department and they told me to call different telephone numbers in my area and repair technic ... The solution: I took the broken belt, put around the drum, measured it, the remaining slack, did some trial and error around the motor axle and the pulley.
Placed a 2 X 4 piece of wood to hold the tension of the pulley. With the belt around the drum, carefully inserted the drum downward. placed the belt starting from the left side of the drum to the bottom of the motor axle, around it then to the bottom of the tension pulley, then towards the right side of the drum.
Lift the drum to its proper position, horizontal. Remove the piece of wood. Turn the drum manually so it moves freely. check the belt moving around the axle and the pulley. Install back the panels and screws tightened. Test and observe a few drying runs.

Basically, Followed the instructions in the Video for Belt replacement. I found out however that the Tensioner was also broken aand needed replacement, and this required the snap wring pliers. also spindle on motor was stripped and had to use "lockTite" to repair that. This increased my confidence level to know that as long as parts are available I will always be able to repair this appliance!

Leaned machine back and put blocking under machine to elevate. Removed two screws from front of bottom panel. Lift panel out and set aside. Next remove two bottom screws from door frame. Pull bottom of frame out and up to release. Remove wire clips from door light and switch. Set door frame aside. Inside drum, take three phillips head scr ... Read more ews out, that hold filter frame in, remove filter frame. Next remove four front screws on drum alignment face plate. Set aside. Grasp drum and pull forward, off back guide rollers. Drum will drop down a little, reach in around drum and slide belt off. Remember to look in under drum to see proper placement of belt aroun motor shaft and idler pulley. Replace new belt around drum with ribs against drum. Route belt around motor shaft pulley, pull idler pulley toward motor and place belt around pulley smooth top runs against pulley. Reinstall everything you removed. Connect wires to door.

Fairly easy to repair once I figured out how to get it apart. The amazing part of this was searching the web for the part. I found PartSelect, ordered it at about 2pm Eastern time and the part arrived the next day! I will definitely use this service again.

removed front of dryer, replaced old pully and put on new belt.

Took apart front of dryer, took out tub, replaced pully wheel, put tub back in with new belt, and put front back on. I would recomend replacing wear pads when doing this type of job.

removed old element, relaced with new element , thermostat dryer works better than it has in along time

Just snapped the new plastic latch into the hole (the hole was there because in trying to extract the old latch, it fell into the inside of the door). Took two seconds. Order to arrival of the part took only 22 hours!

First I unplugged the dryer and turned off the gas. Pryed up the top of the dryer at the front corners to free the front panel. Removed the two screws at the bottom front of the front panel. Then disconnected the three electrical connections for the door button. Put the front panel to the side. Then took out lint tray and then removed ... Read more four screws that hold the lint blower piece and put it aside. Then I could see the motor and the idler assembly is on the back of it. If you have a camera take a picture of how the belt is on the pulley. If not you can draw a general idea of the direction. I reached back and slipped the belt off the idler pulley. Removed two screws from the front bottom of motor fork .Removed two screws from a small electrical hook up thats on the front of the motor and removed it. At this point I could just slide the motor out. With a rachet and a regular wrench I removed the small bolt holding the arm on. Put on the new arm. Slid the motor back in and reconnected the belt. Put everything back together in the same way. Yeah it works. I am a 58 year old woman and this job required no brute strength. Don't be intimidated its really not that difficult to fix it yourself.

First - I did some research on line as to the possible problem with this dryer.
I had already taken the front apart before, so I knew what was needed to remove the door and front.
Remove the 2 screws that hold the dryer door in place with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the two screws on the opposite side of the door also. Place ... Read more the door out of the way. The front panel of the dryer now tilts forward. The front panel sits on two clips, tilt forward and lift out of place. The door switch has two prongs that hold it in place, pinch the prongs and the switch slides out. Disconnect the two wires on the switch and connect the wires to the new switch. The new switch slides into place. I tested the new switch before I put it all back together. Took me no longer than 15 minutes.

replaced both fuses removed panel and removed fuses and checked for continuity and replaced with new fuses
