After removing the back of the range the oven control board was visible and accessible by removing four nuts. There was some resistance removing the leads from the oven coils and light-bulb mechanisms but with some leverage and pliers they came loose. The only challenge was the face plate of the unit is attached using adhesive and neede

d to be carefully peeled off and added to the new oven control board. Getting this right was just a matter of taking time and lining up the components correctly. After applying the face, the new control board went right in. I reattached the back, plugged the unit back in, and the over has worked great for the past week. Part select being able to identify the part numbers listed from the component likely saved me at least $100 of having a GE certified repair technician come in.

I opened the lid, and found that the terminal blocks were burnt, the wires were melted. I ordered one set of terminal block to replace the burnt one, and it worked. Before I started, I shut off the electricity in the whole house to be safe.

The existing terminal block on my Ge oven/Range had melted due to a loose wire causing sparking and starting the plastic casing of the terminal block on fire and melting it, Part select made the part easy to find and had it at my house in 2 days. All I had to do was remove six screws to take the back sheet metal cover off of the oven. U

nscrew the terminal connections remove two mounting screws that held the terminal on to the oven body. This was a little trickier than it should have been because the melted plastic had reformed making it very hard to access the mounting screws. i then mounted the new piece and plugged the oven in, it took 15 minutes and was very easy. definitely saved me at-least a $100 for the service call i would have made if finding the part wasn't so convenient

was a sepperate adhesive overlay. i saw that it was a sepperate part but if i knew it was adhesive i would have spent the extra 20 dollars for a new one. but, to my surprise the old one peeled off easily and gently re-apllied it to the new conrol board alighning it well seemed to be the trickiest part of the job. took the five wires with connectors out of the old one and inserted them into the same place on the new one. removed the old one from the frame (4 pan phillp sheet metal screws) and then screwed the new wired control board in. plugged in the unit and pressed the bake button and then mixed the brownie batter. replaced the back panel cover. 65 dollars and 15 minutes.

The old glass had shattered so I had to clean up the glass fragments from the door including the track where the replacement glass fits. Also, I removed the complete oven door from the stove so I could lay it on the table and work with it better. I had to purchase a star shaped bit in order to remove the two long screws located on the i

nside of the door. These screws hold the door glass assembly to the oven door. After those two screws were removed, I could get to the remaining interior screws which completely removed the door glass frame from the oven. Once the door glass frame was removed, I placed the new glass into the track and reassembled the frame onto the oven door. Then I reattached the oven door to the range. Oh, by the way, the door is removed from the range by flipping a latch (from front to back) on either side of the door. Then you can remove the door. To put the door back on the stove, just insert the pertruding pieces and flip the lever from back to front (reverse order from how it was removed). You may have to jiggle it a couple of times to get it back into the slot correctly.
I had to learn how to do this as I went along.

Very easy repair. The gasket ends are stuffed into slots right below the oven window and the gasket is held in with small wire clips that pop into holes in the door. Just pull the old gasket off, no tools. Install the gasket starting by stuffing one end into the slot mentioned above until the first clip lines up with the first small hole.

Then insert each successive clip into the corresponding holes. Then use a slot screwdriver to stuff the other end of the gasket into the second slot. No sweat.

The repair went very easy. The replacement part was designed differently than the original part. It installed on the rear of the drawer with a screw as the original snapped into the side. This was a bit confusing when researching and looking up the part online.

Charles from Sharon MA 1/14/09 has a pretty good description of what needs to be done. My model must be a little different than Charles, so I'll just tell you about the differences.
The locks that hold the hinges in place on the oven had to be flipped DOWN not UP. They are small rectangular metal brackets with a little open " ... Read more notch" on the top where you can stick a small screwdriver to pry them down.
I found that I DID have to remove the six small screws (three on each hinge) that hold the hinges in place as they also went through both the inner and outer door panels.
Note that the glass assembly has a vented frame. Note that there are vents on the TOP of the frame but not the bottom - i.e. heat rises. Take care not to put the glass assembly in upside down.
