The clutch ball allows the center part of the ratchet to turn backwards freely but catch when turned forward in your engine. This is an OEM part that is made of metal, and it is silver in color. This part will break due to fatigue and wear, and you will know if the part needs replacing if it is no longer able to swing outward to catch the outside of the clutch to start the engine. If this occurs, it is time to replace the clutch ball, which our customers found to be a challenging repair.

This ball joint is an authentic OEM component designed for use in lawnmowers and lawn tractors. It is found near the transmission assembly and is responsible for securing the drive system transfer link to the transmission assembly. Over time, the ball joint may experience wear and tear due to continuous use, exposure to dirt and debris, or lack of lubrication. The drive system transfer link may disconnect from the transmission assembly, resulting in a loss of power transmission. As a result, the lawnmower may not move forward or backward when the engine is running. Remove the nut on the transfer link and the fasteners on the inside of the hex shaft shield. Carefully detach the ball joint. Secure the new ball joint to the transfer link and hex shaft shield to complete the repair.
