First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. I had to use a mirror and flashlights to see in the back of the oven to replace the screws in the new element. It was very close quarters and difficult to see behind element plate.

I have granite countertops and one of the hold down brackets broke to wood cabinet side mount. Easy and fast repair to remove old brackets, pull out dishwasher, and I replaced both brackets with new, and new wood screws. New installation looks better than original done 18 years ago. Removed the ice brucket,
Removed the light shield by releasing one screw using a nutdriver.
Replacing the bulb and reinstalled the light shield.

Disconnected the water and power, pulled dishwasher out from under the counter, unscrewed the old inlet valve, disconnected hose from exit of inlet valve, noted the placement of the wires and disconnected them. Installed new inlet valve in reverse order and reinstalled dishwasher.

Remove bottom kick plate and raise the feet up. Remove attachment from the top to counter. Slide out. Facing the unit, remove left hand side sheet metal cover. The unit is behind this cover. Both were easy to replace. I followed the instructions in the users manual which came with the microwave. On the grease filter, I removed the 2 Phillips head screws which hold the grill plate in place. I had to open the microwave all the way to remove the grill plate. The pull out the dishwasher to gain access to the catch. You’ll have to take a small set of pliers and bend the two tabs back that hold the catch in place. Lift the catch up and forward to remove. Replace and bend the tabs back to hold the new catch securely. Move the dishwasher back in place and secure with the screws previously removed. Put the cover plate back in place and you’re done.

I turned the breaker to the appliance off in the breaker box. Took a mirror and a flashlight to figure out what type of tools I needed. Turned the power back on to the oven at the breaker box and turned the oven on the check the element and it worked.

I verified I had 120 volts going into transformer when the microwave was supposed to be running. The capacitor and HV diode both tested good. The oven on the 40 year old JennAir range stopped heating. I want to preface this review by stating that I do some DIY from YouTube, but have no experience in electronic repair. The microwave is over the stove with the extendavent. Read more the microwave on my own. I unscrewed the lid on the microwave and took the lid off and there is the magnetron. I opened up needle nose pliers to have each end touch the terminals of the capacitor (holds the power, Dangerous). I made sure to keep my hands on the rubber handles and avoid touching the metal part of the pliers. I used the pliers to remove the plug of the capacitor to the magnetron as well. The magnetron has 4 screws (2 top, 2 bottom). There is a magnet that can hold the screws to keep from falling but I’d still recommend a screwdriver with a magnet on the end. The magnetron has another set of wires connected by a metal bracket like a holder, not really connecting any wiring to the magnetron itself. I had to unscrew 1 screw to removed that. Adding everything back on was easy, same steps back. I plugged in the microwave and tested a cup of water before I mounted it back above the stove. Voila! I did need my wife’s help to hold the microwave on the hinge while screwing into the mount. It doesn’t take a lot of muscle for the help. $85 for the part and ~40 mins to fix a $400 microwave!
