795741 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

The Ice Maker from Part Select was complete. Plastic housing, Ice maker located at the top and ice cruncher/dispenser at the bottom.
Note: Both the ice maker and the dispenser wiring goes to a common connecter. It is not advisable to plan changing out only one of these.

Fortunately, others had left comments about this installation, so proved very helpful. First thing was laying out the gasket flag on the counter to allow it to unbend, get out the kinks from shipping. While the new gasket was laying out on the counter, started removing the old gasket. As it had been there for 11 years, needed pliers to ... Read more get a corner started. I was slow and careful removing the old gasket in case I needed to put it back in. A very helpful suggestion from others was to lightly rub dishwashing soap on the gasket edge that fits in the groove in the door. Again, slow and careful, got it installed, wiped off any excess dishwashing liquid, and the door closed with a better seal in a long time. Pleasantly surprised how easy this was to do!

With a small flat blade screw driver, gently pry the corner of the gasket from the door.
Pull it loose across the top, then down the sides.
Wipe the gasket track clean with a damp cloth.
Start installing the new gasket at one of the top corners. Then the other top corner. Press the gasket into the track between the top corn ... Read more ers.
Next do the bottom corners. Pressing the bottom between the corners.
Then press in each side.
Elapsed time: 3-5 minutes.

Watch YouTube videos on this topic if you are uncertain before tackling the job. The right door was easy to replace. Just pull the gasket with your fingers and it will come off easily. Place new gasket over door and use fingers to press it inside the groove few inches at a time. Pay attention to gasket orientation.

The left ... Read more door is a bit harder because you need to remove the mullion at the door edge using a screw driver. Remove two screws on the center hinge and then slide the mullion up to disengage. Then unplug the wires to remove the mullion. Replace the gasket as described above and replace the mullion reversing the directions shown above.

Could not believe how easy it was!

Pull out old seal with hands. Install new seal into channel by pushing seal into channel with you fingers.

Watched a YouTube video on how to replace the door flipper (mullion). Very easy to unscrew the plate and disconnect the electrical circuit. Then gently slide up the flipper and replace with a new one.

Took off the French door Mullen by unscrewing middle area. Unconnected the wires for the door sensor. Then detached old gasket and replaced with new gasket. Reattached the wiring and snapped Mullen flap in place and finally rescrewed to the door. Seal is very good now.

This was an incredibly easy repair! 1 phillips screwdriver and two screws. Disconnect the small adapter, and you are good to go!

Replaced with new mullion

Some have said that the installation took 5 minutes. Mine took less than that, and I did it with one hand. I had a beer in my other hand.

Found the part on Parts Select. Ordered the part, which came quickly. While waiting for delivery. I watched a short video on how to replace this part. I'm a 73 yr. old female, and no trouble at all. I really felt a sense of accomplishment. Thank you Parts Select.

Watched a couple of YouTube videos and then went at it

Part Select had a great video which made the repair easy, using a putty knife to start removing the freeze door gasket. Once removed the install is simple just snap the new gasket into the track, but start at the corner. The spring broke on the flapper (mullion) on my refrigerator. I sent a chat message to PartsSelect (they answered right away) to see if they had a replacement spring but it was not available so had to order the whole mullion. They gave me the part # I would have to order. It arrived quickly. The new mullion didn’t have a visible sprin ... Read more g but it worked the same if not better. I just had to remove 2 screws on the center plate on the existing mullion, pull the plate out enough so you will be able to slide the mullion (the wires are under the plate kind of like the ones you see on a ceiling smoke detector) but you can’t get under the plate until you release the mullion. Push up on the mullion so that the plastic tabs on the top and bottom are released. Once the mullion is released (you have to hold it), you’ll see the wires. Unhook the wire part by just pushing down on the little tab and remove it. To install the new one, just reverse the steps. Align the top and bottom plastic tabs to fit into the slots, just enough to hold it in place. If the plastic tabs are not already flipped out, you’ll have to just flip them out. The top tab does not have tension but the bottom tab has tension so just push on it with your finger to flip it out. The plate covering the electrical is a rather tight fit and you have to make sure the little tab on the inside of the plate is above and behind the tab on the inside where the wires are so it slides behind it so you can get it in position before sliding the mullion back down into place and the electrical plate is in place too. Then screw the 2 screws back in. The hardest part is holding the mullion while un-attaching the electrical and just make sure you stuff the wires in enough so you can get the plate back in position. I’m a 75 yr old woman and managed fine by myself. At first when installing the new one, I couldn’t slide the mullion down enough to get the electrical plate in position and then realized I had to have the little tab inside the electrical plate behind the tab inside the wire compartment so they didn’t hit one another when pushing the mullion back down. Then, all went fine.

Remove 2 screws holding to door. Slide assembly up. Unplug connector. Remove old Plate Assembly. Do reverse to reinstall. Plug connector. Push in wires. Slide plate on. Fasten screws. Done
