Isolated problem to front section of washer by elevating and adding water. Once I identified the pump as leaking (it was pretty obvious:>)I used a screwdriver to release the snaps that hold the pump to the drive motor. After sliding the pump off of the drive motor I used the pliers I release the clamps on the two hoses. Next I logged o n to Partselest.com and ordered a replacement. The item arrived in two days. I placed the pump on the motor first then connected the hoses. It was much easier to slide the hose clamps to the proper position with the pump held secure on the motor.

pump seal leaking

I shut off the water supply hoses and then disconnected them and also disconnected the power supply cord--next I laid the washer on its back being sure to place a block near the water supply valve so the weight of the washer does not rest on the water valve--next I disconnected the inlet and outlet hoses from the pump--next pop off the tw o retainer clips on the pump and then remove the pump by sliding off of the motor shaft-----to re- assemble just reverse the procedure and you are done--it is a very easy fix.

Unplugged the washing machine. Removed the two philipps screws holding the control panel. Swung it up , disconnected interlock connector, and pried the two clips. Removed the top and cabinet assembly to have easy access to the leaking pump.
Disconnected the two hoses connected to the pump. Used the plier to loosen the hose clamps. Re moved the two retainers securing the pump. Removed the old and damaged pump and replaced with the new one. Reinstalled the retainers back on. Reconnected the hoses and clamps. Put the top and cabinet assembly back on. Snapped back the clips and reconnected the interlock connector. Screwed the control panel assembly to the cabinet. Done. Ran the washing machine to check for leaks. Found none.

Leaking at pump

  • Brian from Hereford, AZ
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Pliers, Screw drivers, Socket set, Wrench (Adjustable)
First of all, it would have been helpful to have two people take the housing off the frame. One to lift and the other to disconnect the hoses that need to come off the pump and the filler.

Second, THANK YOU to another person that posted about prying the pump from the motor and sanding it to accept the new pump. When I couldn't get the pump off the motor due to rust, I thought both the pump and motor were done. But I worked the pump off the motor shaft (I had to break the old pump, but it was toast anyway) and used a wire brush and sandpaper to clean the shaft. When I got the new pump, it slid on like a champ!

I also used the parts list that came with the washer to make sure I got all the parts back together in the right place. Like I said, I took too much apart and didn't pay attention to what I was doing for later reassembly. Even though the parts list that came with the washer is small and not to scale, it helped me put the thing back together.

I got my part when PartSelect promised and I got help here from the website. I will use this company whenever I need an appliance part.

The water pump was leaking

  • David from Merrimack, NH
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins

The new pump arrived at my door just a few days after it was shipped.

Once I got the water hoses off and the clips holding the pump I had to use a large screwdriver to get the pump off the motor shaft. I then tried putting the new pump on but it wouldn't fit. I noticed that the motor shaft was flaired out (possibly due to r ust) so I used a Dremel Tool with a grinding disk to carefully grind down the shaft to what it looked like it was supposed to be. Once that was done the pump easily slipped into place. I attached the pump clamps and hoses and pushed the washer back into place. I ran a quick test and then later a load of laundry. No more leaks!

Water leaking out of unit. Bad seal and small hole in side
1 person found this instruction helpful.
  • David from East Windsor, NJ
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
I propped the unit on its side, then I removed the intake and discharge hose with pliers (remember to have a bucket handy for the extra water in the hoses.)
Secondly, there are two clips on the top and bottom of the pump which hold the unit snug against the motor. These simply pop off with your hand or a screwdriver (be careful to sa ve these!) Now the pump should slide off the drive shaft easily but most likely it will not due rusting of the shaft. A pry bar or large screwdriver and some elbow grease will get the pump to slide off.
Installation is the reverse except you will have to sand off the rust on the shaft. Sand paper will do but I used a Dremel type grinder (die grinder) which made easy work of removing the rust. Finally, sliding the new pump in is remarkably easy.
Installation of the new pump should take less than 10 minutes with a clean driveshaft.

the hard part was getting the pump off of the rusted centerpeice. i actually had to grab the pump with both hands, put my feet on the rotator and PULL. finally it basically snapped off and rusted peices went flying. after cleaning it the new pump went on rather easily, with the help of a rubber mallet.

water leaked out from under the machine.

I read the trouble shooting guide on your web sight to figure out what the problem was and after checking the hoses the pump seemed the next most likely problem. So I ordered the part.My main problem was the lack of room to work,if I could have tipped it on it's back or raised it I would not of had a problem. But I tipped it up and b locked it from falling and removed the part while waiting for the new one to arrive.Once it arrived it only took a few minutes to install. When I tried the washer it still leaked water,so I tipped it back up to check it out.The only thing that was wrong was that the spring hose clamps had not seated yet so I moved them around and wiggled the hoses to try and get them tighter. The next time ,it worked fine. The other reviews and trouble shooting guide were a great help!
