I used a screwdriver to remove the old part and pushed the new part in with my fingers, it was very easy. If I could do it, anyone can. I was a lot cheaper then having a repair man come to house. I am very glad I found your site online, I will definitely be using your company again.

BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE UNPLUG THE POWER AND TURN OFF THE GAS SUPPLY 1. unscrew the 3 nut screws at the back to remove the cover lid. 2. pull the control console cable from the electronic board. (only 3 wires on it).3. unscrew the 2 nut scr ews of the control console then remove it by pulling up.4. unscrew the 5 screws to remove the door. (pull little up to unhinged then remove). 6. unscrew the 5 nut screws to remove the lower siding. 7. unscrew the copper 4 nut screws then remove the lint suction fixture 8. unscrew the 4 nut screws to remove door fixture ,then just lay next to the machine.(the wires are long enough so you don't need to unplug and separate it from the machine.9. remove the belt by pulling the idler pulley towards the motor pulley (against the tension spring) 10. remove the drum by lifting a little bit upward. 11. remove the plastic triangular lock using a small screw driver then remove the idler pulley wheel then install the replacement. (clean your machine using a vacuum cleaner and remove all the lints). 12. install back the drum, be sure to set the drum belt to the right position. (groove on drum side). 13. install back the belt to the pulley the same procedure as to remove it. 14. assemble back what you have removed. end.

I saw some videos suggesting you remove the back panel. Then I saw a video where only the kick plate was removed and the element was removed that way.
I removed both the back panel and kick plate. At first I thought I was wasting my time however once I got started I was glad I removed both back and front.
There was a significant a mount of lint in the bottom of the dryer which made it easier to remove.
It also made it easier to remove the heater element.
I hope this helps.

Dryer timer stopped working
13 of 18 people found this instruction helpful.
  • James from Park City, UT
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers, Socket set
Unfortunately it is not easy to get to this part due to the fact the control panel is attached to the top of the dryer by both plastic clips and screws. I was able to bend the back down in the back to gain access to the two screws that held the dryer timer in place. This job is much easier if you have an assistant to hold the thin tin o r steel backing away from the control panel while reconnecting the wire sensors to the new timer. This is the second time I have used Parts Select they are excellent and their prices are very competitive. The part was identical to the broken part. I saved at least $100 by doing the job myself.

My dad was ready to spend $2000 on a new washer/dryer (he has to have a matching set!). Anyway, his dryer would not generate heat. A google search turned up partselect.com, which walked me through the procedure to see what we needed.

It turned out to be a simple to replace $25.00 part! The dryer is drying as if it was brand new. Saved $1,975. Hehe.

Thanks, partselect!

Partselect order confirmation email included video instructions of how to change the door switch on my model dryer. Like others I had a pause with the switch connector. I viewed the video again and the instrucions showed to use the putty knife tip to push down on the connector tabs and it came right off. Replacing the switch was easy a s the video instructions. Fast shipping of the right part at a good price. The video was pricless. Thank you partselect.

  • Chris from Great Bend, KS
  • Really Easy

I had already taken the coil out of the heating housing to check for a break in the heating element. I took this time to vacuum out all the lint inside the cabinet. I slid the new coil into the housing and reattached the wires. Plugged the dryer back in and turned it on to make sure the coil heated up. It worked so I put all the screw s back in and fastend the front back on and were in bussiness!

Found a U tube video to be useful. Remover 2 screws under the filter lid. Used a putty knife blabe wrapped in masking tape to unclip the lid. 2 screws to remove the switch. Biggest difficulty is seperating the electric connector. installed replacement switch and closed lid.....reality is this is a 15 minute repair. The extra time was to take the time to remove dust and lint from behind the dryer. Easy repair.

And on You Tube up came several videos showing me how to ewmove the switch and install the new one.

The hardest part of the job was not instaling the switch but the dryer Vent hose from the back of the dryer after I puled it away fro m the wall, it disconnected and the I had to Pull the Washer out which was right next to it so I could put the vent hose back to the dyer. I has to disconnect the Hot/cold water line pull the washer out connect the dyer hose reconnect the cold /hot water lines and yada yada yada
