11020022012 Kenmore Washer - Instructions

I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE VIDEO AND HAD NO PROBLEMS. It was very easy.

Very simple repair with the kit. Old rods came out easily using vise grips locked on to rods about 10-12 inches down and pulling up. Had doubts if they were bad since everything looked good but drum bounced back several times when I shoved it down to test it earlier. New rods went in just as easy and replaced in less than 30 min. Hardest ... Read more part was that I had very cramped laundry room so had to move and disconnect hoses etc. to move into larger space for repair and then move back to reconnect. Parts came quickly within about 3 days and now purrs like a kitten!

Gently pry top of agitator off with small flat-blade screwdriver. Using the square end of a 1/2-inch socket extension, unscrew the plastic center "nut." Lift agitator off, remove center cone that holds the dogs, slip the retainer ring off, remove the worn dogs and replace. (Great opportunity clean the soap scum off the agitator!) Reverse ... I noticed the agitator didn't "lock up" in one direction to properly agitate the load (which in turn "agitated" my girlfriend. I took the agitator apart to find the dog ears were worn. first remove the cap on agitator(softner),then pull out inside cap (small cover inside),loose bolt in center (you need a 7/16 socket with a long extension) after that pull up the whole assamble out of the washer tub,hold bottom part and pull up agitator ,turn up side down to take out the cogs and holder, replace with new ones and go back ... in 20 minutes I had a new washer! The repair man estimated the cost for repair at $150, but I didn't want to spend that much money on a 20-year-old washer, so I ordered the agitator repair kit, cost $12, and it arrived the very next day! I popped the liquid detergent cap off of the top of the Agitator. I then removed the seal cap to expose the Agitator dog assembly and bolt. I removed the entire Agitator dog assembly and Agitator by removing the single 7/16? bolt. I pulled the old dogs out, put the new dogs in and reassembled the Agitator Assembly.

Washer stopped agitating. I removed the clothes softener cup on top of the agitator by grasping and pulling up, inside the agitator I removed the inner plastic cap by grasping the 2 finger tabs and pulling up. There was a plastic retainer assembly with spring instead of the 7/16 nut referred to in other posts. I used a long 1/2" ratchet e ... Read more xtension to remove the plastic retainer assembly, removed the top half of the agitator and replaced the cogs, then replaced the agitator, plastic retainer assembly with spring, snapped the plastic cap back on, and replace the clothes softener cup.

Removed fabric softener dispenser. Inserted medium flathead screwdriver into slot on side of cover that is on agitator and pried off. Used socket wrench, socket and extension to unscrew bolt inside agitator. Lifted out and slid off plastic ring holding agitator cogs (cogs will fall right out so make sure you check to see how they're i ... Read more n). Replaced cogs in the same direction they came out. First, I removed the (3) piece softener cup from the top of the agitator.
Then I removed the bolt from inside the top of the agitator.
The agitator drive assembly lifts out of the lower agitator.
A flanged plastic snap ring holds the (4) drive dogs into the drive assembly.

Replace the (4) drive dogs, and reassemble in reverse order.

As far as repairs go, this one is really easy.

Pulled cap off top of agitator, loosened bolt down in center of assembly and pulled collar up with pliers.
Removed old dog ears and replaced. Need to be extra careful on direction of dog ears.

Very simple; even a cave man could do it!

basically pop off the top spindle cover, reach in and pull off the water cap from the agitator cog cover, unscrew the bolt holding the cog holder and pull the agittator assembly up and off the machine. Remove the piece holding the gogs in place and replace cogs making sure to put them back in the same direction as they came out. Turn the ... Read more agitator upside down and stick the piece holding the cogs in and snap it in. Replace all components in reverse order they were removed, and there you are. Works great.

Could be done in place, but it's easier to pull the full agitator assembly out first, and work at a table. Remove the fabric softener dispenser, then the plastic cap below (with rubber o-ring)- both pull out by hand. Reverse the now visible bolt with an extended 7/16" socket and pull the cog housing up and out, gripping with gentle pres ... Read more sure with pliers ( locking plastic tabs make this piece impossible to remove by hand). Once the housing is removed it's easy to separate the two halves with your fingernails and replace the cogs. I was able to reassemble everything and push it back down into the drum in about two minutes. Piece of cake- I highly recommend anyone with a tool box do this himself.
