Find, Order, Receive & Replace electric stove burners
6 of 6 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Harry from Catawissa, PA
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers
Teh instillation was a simple matter of removing the old burners and replacing them with the new ones. Removal required the screw connector on each burner ring to be loosened and the reverse done when the new one was installed. The hardest part was finding the correct burners since the Model number of the stove was not in anyones file. This web site provided adequate pictures of the part to permit identification of the likely part to order. Thanks.

1. Bought replacement part said to replace old switch.
2. Pulled old switch out.
3. Replacement part did not match. Would have to take entire switch panel apart to change to this part.
4. Multiple-part instructions very poor. For my switch unreadable.
5. Old part was "push to turn". New part was not.
6. Knob did not fit new switch. Old shaft was "D" shaped. New is square.
7. Gave up. Need to call repair shop.
8. Hope this helps.

Trim Ring - 8" didn't fit right and Drip Bowls were not cleanable any more
6 of 8 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Bonnie from Anchorage, AK
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins

Replaced all the ordered parts, and straightened a bent "rest piece" (one of three) on the element os the large burner, which made it rest perfectly on the new Trim Ring. It doesn't easily fall down into the bowl now while I am using the burner. The new Bowls look so nice, and the stove looks nearly new!

I now know where to go for help when I need to repair appliances. You seem to have everything that could possibly be needed. Thank you!

Old gasket (seal) broken and leaking
5 of 7 people found this instruction helpful.
  • William from SAN DIEGO, CA
  • Really Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Nutdriver, Pliers, Screw drivers
The oven is 70 years old and used several times a week so getting it to come apart wasn't working.
Used a light oil and some thinner to work loose the old seal, which was stuck pretty good, removed it by lightly prying the seal lip wider and pulling it out, mostly piece by piece. The worked in the new one and became of the light oil, it went in rather easy. Had to trim an inch or so from each end and wiped down and cleaned up. No more problems....

infinite switch would not shut off at times.

  • Ervin from Milford, DE

First shut the power to the stove, then had to slide the stove out so I could get at the back to remove the panel screws.Once you have the back off remove the knob on the front.Under the knob is 2 phillips screws that you need to remove.Next I took the new switch and matched up the wires to the old switch.Reinstall is the reverse.Once the switch is in place you must remove the excess shaft to match the length of the old one. This is done with the use of 2 pliers, you grasp the shaft with both pliers and snap it off where you need it.The kit comes with spacers so you have got to match up the right one so the switch is solid on the shaft. This finishes the project, next turn the power back on and check that all is working ok.Job finished.

  • Robert from VINELAND, NJ
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
New one a little different ,but it was marked for wiring!
Had to install upside down because wires would not reach right side up!
Had to pull back side of knob out and turn 180 degrees and glue in knob, so knob would be right side up!
Works fine! Now all burners work again!

Lifted burner element to remove pressure on ring and drip bowl. Removed old parts and replaced in reverse order. This not intended to sound sexist, but my wife who is not particularily mechanically inclined performed the task on her own.

6" element burnt out
3 of 4 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Leonard from Easton, PA
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver
Finding a replacement element for a 30 year old GE electric stove was difficult to find. I was overjoyed when I found a replacement on Partselect! It was a simple "Unscrew, reattach wires and install" all in about 10 - 15 minutes all with a nutdriver. Plug in elements are common but to find one with screw connections is not easy, THANK Y OU PARTSELECT! A $48.00 investment (Element with trim ring) was worth the cost compared to a $1,400.00 replacement. You just made a loyal customer, again, Thank You.

Replaced old burners
3 of 5 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Terry from Ulen, MN
  • Easy
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
Both the eight inch burner and the the six inch burner were not an exact fit. I used the old rings and the new burners. The eight inch burner fit well with the new drip bowl;however, the six inch burner did not fit with the six inch drip bowl and I had to grind off about an eigth inch from the diamiter of the drip bowl. I replaced most al l the wiriing and after I get the lower oven element rebuilt it will be ready for a test drive ..can't wait!
