6" burner not working and 8" burner bracket broke
  • Kathy from West Point, VA
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers
Replacement burners were as close as we could find to replace originals but not perfect fits. After making sure there was no power to the burners, it was a matter of unscrewing the screws to the old burners and screwing on the new burners. Hitches: cover brackets to where the screws are were just slightly different than original and th e welded backets on both new burners are slightly welded uneven. But that is a lot better than not being able to use 2 of my 4 burners for cooking.

Front Burner,no control of.
  • Joseph from Baden, PA
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
The original controls were different for the small burners and the large burners. The replacement part fits all. Before removing wires, pay attention to writing on new and old control and replace 1 at a time. The hardest part was being sure to cut the knob stem to the correct length. Control works well.

Shaft for burner control knob broke off
  • Carol from Hamilton, OH
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
I flipped breaker off for electic and confirmed that power to the stove was off. I removed the 2 screws holding the control unit in place. Carefully removed all knobs and buttons and pryed the cover for the control unit off. I then removed old part, removed the wired and clipped wires to the new unit. Put cover back on - has some difficul ty getting the panel back in place to line up the screws. But after a couple of attempts, was able to line up unit and put screws in place to secure. Replaced all knobs. Turn breaker back on and cooked lunch. Very easy job. Most difficult part was getting panel back in position. I would watch alignment more carefully before I removed in next time. Easy home repair for Women...not sure about my man?

R had ight front control made loud noise when contacts opened.
  • James from Nashville, AR
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Nutdriver, Pliers, Screw drivers, Socket set, Wrench set
This is twin oven range with controls at side of upper oven. Control panel was fastened with screws at top and bottom. Range has built-in hood at top which had to be disassembled to reach top screw. Once had access to top screw, eaisly removed control panel and replaced control. New control had identical connections as old control so only had to install it, break shaft to correct length, and use proper shaft adapter for knob. Remounted control panel and range worked perfectly. This would have been a very quick job except for having to deal with the built-in range hood.

Oven bake element burned out.
  • Marvin from Warren, NJ
  • Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Nutdriver
Replaced old bake element by removing two screws holding it to back of oven. Disconnected old bake element from lead wires by removing two other screws. Installed new bake element by reversing the process. Only issue is that the tabs on the element that connect to the leads are easily bent and you need to use vise-grips to keep from bendi ng them. Otherwise, very easy. Thank you PartSelect.com for stocking this item that I used to repair my 45-year old GE range!

I had an appliance guy replace a burner(Calrod unit)on my 47 year-old GE range, but he didn't tell me that the original trim ring wouldn't fit. I decided to look up on PartSelect to see if I could get one to fit the new burner, and I did! Fits perfectly......no tools needed.

The repair went well and once again my stove that was installed back in 1968 is working perfectly. We will be buying another 6" burner and 2-8" so we have them when they begin to burn out. We looked everywhere for a replacement and was told they do not make them anymore, but we found it here. Thank you!

The oven coil burnt out visibly sparking at the failure point on the coil
  • Mark from Fort Wayne, IN
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins

This model has a top oven and a bottom. The repair was to the top oven. I shut off the electricity to the oven at the circuit breaker box.I removed the grates and unscrewed the two screws holding the burner in place. I gently pulled the burner free along with its two attached wires. I removed the two screws that retained the connections to the burner. I installed the new burner in the reverse order. Turn on the circuit. Good to go.

old stained drip bowls
  • Peter J from Oceanside, CA
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
I tried first to replace them, with a set I bought at a local hardware store. But they were too small. So I went on the internet, and found Part Select, and thanks to a very helpful guy, who made the extra effort to find the exact drip bowls, I now have a nice, shiny stove-top again. Installing them took two minutes... tilt the burners u p, and slide them in. No problem.
