106621 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

Took out glass shelf to clean. Shelf exploded into a billion little pieces for no apparent reason. Received replacement shelf the next day (with the 3 - 5 day shipping). Cleaned glass, placed in ice box. Viola!

check what site said was probably the problem 80% of the time. took out one screw unit dropped down disconnected part
connected new part screwed unit backup. Waited 4-5 hrs temp went from 60 degrees to 40.

I just removed a few screews and took the cover out of the ice box. Put my voltage meter to the refrigeator and realized the the unit was not defrosting...I then got the part number and entered it in on your web site. A few days later my part arrived. I ran all the ice maker module tests that I could find online, I tried cleaning the contacts inside the ice maker control module, nothing worked...so I finally decided to purchase a new control module. I had already had the module out and taken apart a few times, so the new one was very easy to install. Just removed the entire icemaker ... Read more from the fridge, removed a few screws, took off the old module, put on the new one, replaced the screws, re-installed the icemaker in the fridge (it just slides in and out similar to a shelf). And 30 minutes later I heard the first batch of ice cubes drop! And by morning the bucket was nearly full. After two weeks of no ice and trying to fix it myself - the family was glad to have ice again (it was July in NC!). In retrospect, I should have followed the advice I found online and ordered the new part sooner and saved all of those frustrating hours of trying to "fix" the part myself.

Turn off the water supply.
Remove the two screws with a nut driver.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Disconnect the water supply lines from the old valve.
Reconnect the water supply lines to the new valve.
(be sure to push the water line into the quick connect securely)
Reconnect the electrical connector ... Read more .
Re-install the valve with the two screws.
Turn water supply on.

First I ascertained that valve was faulty. Ordered replacement and installed without issue. Water now overflowed only during fill and found that filler neck had ice in it as a result of initial leakage. Defrosted with a hair dryer, removed ice plug and it now works as advertised.

Unplugged the machine removed the bottom plate and back plate and ice maker.Removed 2 wires to motor and ground wire.Removed 2 mounting nuts for motor,installed new motor and used old fan blade for new motor .Reinstalled in reverse order plugged in and tested fine.

removed the clip that the motor was attached too put the new motor back on reinstalled the clip back on the fridge plugged the wire harness in and works perfect now . it was easier to remove the clip than to try to install the motor by itself its just to tight and you cant get in there

I removed the screw that held the control module in place, then unscrewed & unplugged the circuit board and plugged the new one in. At that point I realized that the mounting bosses on the new piece were a quarter inch longer than the old one and the screws were now too short. The old bosses couldn't be adapted without wrecking them. Luck ... Read more ily I found screws out in the garage that worked. The screws that came with the new piece were the same as the old ones. Also they were packed loose with the circuit board and one was stuck between the protective cover and the pins. Thankfully it fell out on its own before I plugged the refrigerator in.

I ordered both tracks for replacement. It was very simple to remove the glass shelf. Turn upside down and match the replacements to what is attached to the shelf. You need a butter knife or screwdriver to release the three clips connecting the track to the shelf. Very carefully press down on the clips to disengage and pull off of the shel ... Read more f for all three clips. Line up thethe new part and push in until you hear it click in. That is all there is to it. Now you might as well clean the fridge.

I only needed to set the endcap and trim piec es in place, no tools involved

changed the starter connected to the compressor

Followed instructions supplied. It was relatively easy and the parts fit exactly right. Sears wanted twice as much for the part and service would have charged me another $100 to come to my home. I saved over $100 doing the project myself.

First I installed a defrost timer, (the old timer had burnt out contacts in it) It seemed to work for a few days, then went back to not comng out of defrost cycle, I then installed a defrost thermostat. It seems to be working better than before. I found out that maybe I wasn't running it cold enough. So I turned it up colder. Now it ... Read more works ok for 2 - 3 days, then I check the Temp in the freezer and its up to 6o. So I manually reset the timer and it works for 2 - 3 days. Don't know what to do now to fix it.

Approximately:

1. Unplugged refrigerator.
2. Emptied Freezer.
3. Removed Ice Maker.
4. Waited a few hours for ice to melt around back panel & nuts.
5. Removed back panel and the cover over fan and fan motor.
6. Waited many more hours for ice to thaw over fins, wiring, etc.
7. Easily replaced the bi ... Read more -mental defrost thermostat.
8. Replaced panel, fan cover, ice maker.
9. Plugged in refrigerator and waited a bit.

This worked! Yahoo.
