106614 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

I'm a retired auto mechanic....I thought this would be an easy job. I figured it would be easier if I removed the fresh food door which I did and it was straight forward. Read more of the new gasket were each about 1 inch shorter than the old one. When I decided to return the part, I was told that sometimes you have to soak the part in hot water. There were no instructions with the new part regarding this. I decided to buy a new refridge.

Had alot of frost build up, coils were frozen solid. Removed the coil cover to defrost.
Ordered the defrost timer on friday, arrived on saturday. only took 15 minutes to install. Working great

It would have been nice to know that screws were not included and/or show were screws could be purchased. Thank goodness I was able to reuse the top 2 and had an extra screw in my tool bag that fit the bottom, because the existing screw had been super glued into bottom part of handle.

tested bulb good ,replaced door switch first(least expensive)then ordered light socket and circuitboard.If clicking sound is heard replace circuitboard first to save on return shipping because the switch and socket where ok

With a socket set and screw driver I removed the old ic e maker . It took about 1 hr. I worked slowly as not to make a mistake. The only part that gave me a problem was the plug. You need to take off the face cover to press down on the plastic release clip. Putting it back took half the time because you knew what to look for.Just plug it ... Very easy, unscrewed control panel cover (1 screw) which is located under the freezer compartment inside the refrigerator. Took out non working defrost timer installed new one replaced cover, done. Total time: less than 5 minutes.

I took the cover off the control settings and found the timer. Removed two screws and replaced the defective one with the new one. Had to pay attention to directions since the timer is used in different ways and to make sure the loose wire was installed correctly (not the same way as the original ground was connected).

Removed 2 control panel knobs and face plate that is snaped in place using a knife to prey it causing to snape lose.
Removed 4 cover screws that gave me acess to Defrost Timer. Remove two fastining screws on timer unit. Remove electrical color coded 4 prong connector plug. Have to make sure black jumper wire on the new timer kit ... Read more is connected to the correct one of the 4 prongs as to instruction sheet for my model refrigerator. Reassemble in reverse order. Bingo! Fixed.

In the freezer section I disassembled the paneling and remeoved the old bi-metal by cutting the wires (make sure your cut has enough slack to do splicing). Then, stripped 1/4 inch of wire insulation from the wire and used a wire splice to connect the new bi-metal and after that I crimp the wire slice. After all of that, I reassembled th ... The paneling is easy to remove, all the tools that are required is 1/4" nut driver.

First I unplugged appliance then I remove two screws from the thermostat/light cover. I then remove two defrost timer mounting screws and all electrical connectors. Everything seemed fine so I unplugged appliance and secured two defrost timer mounting screws and thermostat/light cover mounting screws and that was that.

This product comes in a bottle with a brush like Liquid Paper. It goes on incredibly easy. A second coat might be needed. I wanted to prevent rust from setting in so I covered the scratches and dings. The paint is a little brighter since my washer is 10 years old but it still looks great.

Lost screw on bottom refrigerator door hinge which allowed the door to fall off. Purchased screw from Part Select for the Roper refrigerator. Drawings and parts list for this unit were available on their website. Easy repair.

My problem was that the freezer was frosting up.
I have a no frost system so I decided to investigate.
I removed the panels inside the freezer compartment.
This took me about 5 minutes. After the ice had melted, I noticed that the clicks-on (bi-metal stat)
has the top push out at about a 45% angle.
After ordering ... Read more a replacement, I pushed the top of the bi-metal down to where it's supposed to be.
Put the freezer back together and plugged it in. I needed the freezer while the part is being shipped.
The part arrived in about 3 days, which was very fast and a surprise to me.
The freezer was still working fine so I put the part in the drawer until I needed it.
That was in April 09 and it is still working. I have the part in case I need it.

On a whim I looked into what it would take to fix my garage older 2nd fridge. I was thinking I needed a new seal, but when I checked the website there was a great troubleshooter. Read more nd I actually had to turn it down. The only complication was the fridge was stuck in a defrost cycle so I had to reset the timer to get the refrigerator running.
