The first thing I did was to determine what my problem was. I was hearing a clicking sound and
noticed the compressor was trying to start.

Read more he needle nose pliers and popped this off and pulled the switch out, disconnected the wire plug and that was it. To replace it I unplugged the capacitor from the old switch and plugged it into the new one then installed it the same way the old one came out.

first i put in a new water inlet valve it did not solve the problem i waited 3 days then ordered the ice maker i put it in an it still did not work after 3 days i put in water in the ice maker by hand it still did not work i gave up then to my surprise 4 more days it started working still not sure what was wrong but i am glad it works now ... After deciding it was the unit itself and not a water celenoid I ordered it from parts select. Instead of 3 to 5 business days it arived the next day after ordering. I had previously removed and reinstalled the ice maker while trouble shooting. It was easy to change it out, and works perfectly.

I removed cleaned & re-ionstalled the same unit. It started to slowly make ice and then stopped. I repeated the above procedure again and it started to work normally. I will keep the replacement icemaker as a handy spare. I fear it will fail again in the near future.

Heating element broke and fried the rest of the parts had to take out the bad parts and put in the new ones and it worked. i have fixed this problem three times now.

Remove ice maker from freezer, place on its side on table. Remove single screw securing coupling from shaft without removing shaft from housing. Remove old coupling, and attach new coupling using single screw.

This is a great time to completely clean the Ice maker bin and crusher unit.

First I removed all contents from inside refrigerator door.Then I removed (1) 10mil screw,which holds cover for top hinge.Next I removed the (3) hinge screws,and lifted door off of bottom hinge.Pulled off plastic closure cam from bottom metal hinge post.I cleaned metal post ,applied a small amount of vaseline to post, slid on new plastic ... Unscrew the three phillips screws holding the flipper and electric eye unit, pull it out a bit to unplug the connector. Take the assembly over to a flat surface, and use pliers and or crew driver to pry/pull off the press-on retainer on the hinge pin. Pull out hinge pin, remove the broken flipper. Then take the repaired assembly back to the freezer, re-plug the plug, and then reinstall the unit using the 3 phillips screws. Easy Peasy.

After receiving the replacement emitter and receiver boards from PartSelect.com, I following the troubleshooting paperwork that came with my order to ensure the parts I ordered where the problem. I unplugged the refrigerator
Opened the freezer door
Opened the ice maker door so that I could easily get to the emitter and receiver
I used a phillips head screw driver to remove 3 screws from the emitter plate and 3 screws from the receiver plate
I unplugged the faulty circuit boards--this took some tugging

Repairing a refrigerator is inimidating to say the least. Our ice maker has broke twice in the two years that we have owned it. Received the part two days after ordering and it took all of about 5 minutes to unscrew the old boards, pop them out, and put in the new ones.

This was a very simple piece of kit to replace. We are not electricians but commonsense helped. Follow the man's advice below me but you don't need to empty the whole refridgerator just the top shelf. Very, very simple. Thank you the man below.

Removed one screw, carefully removed the unit, unplugged it and reversed the process to install. My only issue was the picture of the part I ordered was not the same as I received.
