Searched my issue on the internet then chose part select to see if bi-metal thermostat was available and it was so I ordered part which was under $30.00 incl. shipping. I then went to You Tube to watch how to replace the part but most importantly to find out where it was located and degree of difficulty. Replacement was rather simple and it fixed our 22 year old fridge. I must add that when I looked up the part it also told you what percent of the time that particular item actually fixed the problem based on others experience. I thought that was neat info. as I felt better about ordering something that may or may not fix my problem. Thank you,

Remove the 2 bolts in the front. Remove water pump from back so you can easily remove hose coming from filter housing. Remove screw holding inlet water hose so it's free to move. Pull filter housing out the front and disconnect water lines. Attach new filter to water lines and when pushing filter housing back into place you have to hol d Styrofoam support with other hand or it will fall over. Reconnect in reverse order.

Ice would not dispense from the door
4 of 4 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Jeffrey from Jacksonville, FL
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
Removed ice bucket and discovered the auger drum was broken.

After I received the new part, I removed the front screws of the ice bucket, removed the clip that held the auger and other parts together, and then slide each part off the auger until I got to the broken drum.

Assembly was in reverse except you must pay attention where all the spacers and ice crusher bars go back into the original position. This was the most difficult step.

Works great now, crushed and cubed ice dispenses thru the door like new.

Unplugged frig. With flat head screwdriver, removed light module and unplugged. Installed replacement module and snapped back into place. Replugged frig.
But did not work!! Repeated steps 2x, but no change.

Had been told the frig LED light was the same module as the freezer, but that is not the case. I had hoped to tr y the new module in the frig. So, back to square one and since I installed the new part, can't return!

Broken meat drawer
6 of 11 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Lionel from Escondido, CA
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
This story is less about the repair than the service. On Monday, I removed the meat drawer to give it a quick rinse. Unfortunately, I fumbled the ball getting it back to the fridge, dropped the drawer on the hard stone floor, shattering it.

Instead of calling a repair man or going to the local appliance store, I opened up my ma cbook, found partselect.com, ordered the part and they had it taken care of in 5 minutes. Two days later, Fed Ex handed me a box with the replacement drawer, and I slide it in. Done. Total time to repair -- 6 minutes.

Sure beats leaving the house!
