Haier Refrigerator Defrost Cable This defrost thermostat and cable assembly prevents ice buildup on the evaporator coils. During the defrost cycle, they conduct heat to melt any accumulated ice. The thermostat senses the coil temperature and triggers the defrosting process when it reaches a certain threshold. Once the desired temperature is reached, it turns off. The cable assembly connects to the thermostat and helps to transmit heat. Typically located in the freezer compartment near the coils on the back wall, a broken cable may show signs of fraying or breakage. Similarly, if the thermostat is faulty, it will not activate the defrost heater. When these components fail, your fridge cannot effectively preserve your food, leading to spoilage and potential wastage. To replace the thermostat and its cables, ensure your fridge is unplugged and consult your user manual for disassembling instructions specific to the freezer compartment. Remove any shelves or racks to access the fan motor housing located inside the rear wall. Proceed to unthread relevant fasteners to reach the thermostat and its cables. Disconnect the attached wire harnesses to remove both components from your fridge. Please note that this OEM kit is sold individually.
