Dishwasher Door Balance Link Kit
★★★★★
★★★★★
199 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS972325
Manufacturer Part Number 8194001
This part is a door balance link kit, also sometimes known as door cable or door spring cable kit, that helps support the door as it opens and closes by connecting to the dishwasher door hinges. The kit includes two door balance links and two door balance mounts with wheels, which will replace both the left and right sides. The only tool needed is a 5/16 nut driver. Before removing the existing kit, take note of how the door balance link kit is assembled for a smooth replacement process. It is recommended to check the door springs in case they need to be replaced as well.

Replaced Hinge Link
Pulled dishwasher from under counter, attached link to spring, hooked spring back into frame/chassis, threaded link through pulleys, attached other end of link onto door, reinstalled dishwasher under counter. All's well. Note-I purchased an extra link anticipating that the other one will fail. They're cheap enough. Read more...

PartSelect Number PS3524406
Manufacturer Part Number 4933DD3001B
This dishwasher door hinge cable assembly connects the door to the spring. The door hinge cable and the door spring apply tension to the door to prevent it from dropping open too quickly. This part contains two plastic pieces which are approximately 2 inches in length by 3/4-inch in width, as well as a rope portion that measures approximately 8 inches in length. When beginning this repair, be sure to use caution when replacing the door hinge cable. The spring to which the door hinge cable attaches is under tension and could snap. This part is sold individually.

Dishwasher door became heavy and would fall to the floor if you didn't hold it up.
Removed mounting screws from sides of disher. Removed broken piece of connector assy still attached to hinge. Attached new connector assy to hinge then looped it around pulley with spring attached to opposite end. Need both hands to pull spring up to side of tub and connect it. I would suggest replacing both connector assemblies while you have the dishwasher pulled out. Push dishwasher back in and mount with screws. Read more...

Dishwasher Hinge Arm Link
★★★★★
★★★★★

PartSelect Number PS259336
Manufacturer Part Number WD14X10009
The hinge link on your dishwasher connects the spring to the dishwasher door hinge. If the hinge link becomes cracked or damaged, you may not be able to shut or lock your dishwasher door properly. In this case, you will need to replace the hinge link. Pull out your dishwasher to inspect the hinge and spring, if the link is broken, it may be disconnected and on the ground already. If not, you can remove the hinge arm link by simply disconnecting it from the hinge and spring, then replacing it with the new part. The hinge arm link is a small piece of white plastic about an inch and a half long. It is sold individually, and is an OEM part from the manufacturer.

This is a part for your dishwasher. The door cable link helps to keep the door steady and give support to the weight of the door when it is being opened or closed. If you notice the door latch has failed or the door is not closing properly, this might indicate a need to have the door cable link replaced. To perform this repair, you will start by turning the power off from the appliance. You will need to pull the unit out of installation. To access the cables, you will need to remove the side panel. You should be able to see the cables underneath the panel once removed.

One of the door tension springs and related plastic clip failed causing door to open under full weight
Per the recommendation from PartSelect.com, I purchased 2 new springs and 2 new clips - one set for each side. With the bottom cover plate removed below the door, I removed the remaining spring and clip and installed the 2 new springs and clips by hand. The door now opens with resistance and won't even stay completely opened unless the lower dishwasher tray is rolled out on it. it's like new.
This is the second repair to this dishwasher. Last year I replaced the door latch that had broken with a replacement purchased from partselect.com. That repair was also quite easy.
PartSelect's full part brochures by model made identifying the needed parts simple, and the replacement a breeze.
I even repaired my refrigerator ice maker a couple months ago after purchasing a new control module, and saving both a service fee and the probable full price for a new ice maker.
I've repaired my electric clothes dryer too, and hadn't even thought about all the repairs I'd done thanks to this website, until I told the story of my dishwasher.
I've probably saved $1000 already. Wow!
I love this site.
