Also referred to as a Recoil Spring, this OEM replacement part is used to rewind the pull rope back into the starter housing. This Spring is sold individually, not as part of a kit or assembly, and is made of metal.
If the pull cord will not retract into the housing, inspect the Recoil Spring for signs of wear or damage, replacing if necessary. You will need a screwdriver to complete this repair.

Part didn't have cut outside for killswitch or spark plug wire
Had to cut plastic housing in order to get the part to fit.
If the new housing had the cut outside this would have been a simple 30 min repair.
Spend $5 more and get the right part from MTD/Bolens website.
