Toro Snow Blower Starter Pawl-ratchet

The manufacturer-approved Ratchet Pawl (Starter Pawl) comes in a set of two (2). This part attaches inside the recoil assembly, and is used to engage the flywheel. if broken due to wear/damage it will have a hard time engaging the fly wheel, making the engine harder to start, and should be replaced. Installation is rated as "Easy" by customers, and will require a screwdriver, pliers and nutdriver. blower housing on the customers log splitter broke.
blower housing on my brothers log splitter broke at the anchor points and caused the pull start to break and come apart. I was able to buy the parts and fix the log splitter for half the price of a new motor, saving him about $300.00.

Toro Snow Blower Starter-rewind
To replace the pull starter/recoil assy. Remove low oil warning light, and air filter housing then remove the 4 bolts holding the front cover. Once the front cover is free remove kill switch wire
Drill out the rivets holding the recoil housing w/ 3/16 bit. Screws w/ nuts are included to use in place of rivets, I used red Locktite on the screws which hold the started recoil to the front cover. Gas tank leaking, pull starter rivets worn, rope and rope bushing worn
The gas tank was a simple job, close the fuel shut off, remove fuel hose then back out 2 bolts on the mounting bracket. Reverse procedure to mount.To replace the pull starter/recoil assy.
