Does this washer go inside the dishwasher under the nut tube, or outside the dishwasher on the water inlet?

How big diameter is the gasket wp8531323 ? Can it come off easily. We found a gasket in the bottom of our washer but no leaks. Our gasket does not have four tabs on the inside.

I'm looking for the correct part number for a black door latch for the model number MDBH949PAB1 AND Is it necessary to replace the entire latch assembly Or should I be looking for a different part. It's the little plastic piece - that locks the door in place. It wasn't engaging and when I tried to push it into place to hold the doo r shut - it broke (I'm assuming) and it fell down inside the door.. so it's not the assembly that actually broke it's the latch itself. Thank you for any info you have regarding the situation Darla
