At first I went to a local part supplier and they didn't have it in stock but could order it for me for $55.00 plus $10.00 to ship it. I told them I would have to think about it. I went home and got on the computer and found your web site and was I shocked when I saw the same part listed for $6.98 and $7.00 to ship it. You guys saved m e $50.00. The part arrived in two day and took 5 min. to install. I now have light in my refrigerator. Thank you.

Truth is, this took a couple hours of cursing, but that was due to poor information and no prior experience. I imagine the next one would take 20 minutes. The issues are these: videos tell you to use a putty knife to pry the old switch out. That is harder than it seems because each switch has a plastic spring that pops open to hold the switch on, and you can't access the spring when the switch is installed. So it is important to use the knife on the side of the switch (left or right of spring -- look at the new switch), and back and forth until the switch is worked out. Then it can get worse. The new switch has to plug in electrically before it can be installed mechanically. In my case, with the switch on the fridge wall rather than the top, the outlet for the plug was encased in foam insullation. That gives the appearance that the plug was fixed, immovable, which makes it impossible to plug it in electrically before the switch is in place, and of course once it is in place you can't then plug it in. The problem here was poor instructions. Just scrape out a lot of the foam around the plug and you find that the plug is really not fixed, but attached to reasonably long wires that allow you to plug it in with the switch a couple inches from the wall, and then insert the switch. None of the online instructions tell you this about the wires.

Referencing the info/schematics you have on your website, I unscrewed/unattached top-front panel (carefully), from behind the panel you have to detach the wires (2) from the switch, pushed "in" the switch to remove, put in new switch and attach wires to test BEFORE remounting panel. Tada!! Thank you PartSelect! You saved me at least $80.. .would have been at least $100 to have a repair person come to the house!

Small water leak from cracked fitting leading into water reservoir fill valve.

  • Luke from Jewett city, CT
  • Really Easy

  • Nutdriver, Socket set
Remove some shelving and have a towel handy. Opened water filter door to expose two 1/4” screws. Removed 2 screws. Placed my hands firmly on upper panel and gently pulled/tugged panel forward and slightly down. Disconnected roof lighting clip. Removed panel from frig. Disconnected both ends from solenoid fill valves by pressing in the co lored locking piece to release tubing while pulling tube out. Cut zip ties and removed old leaking reservoir. I also removed the straight reservoir seeing as the part I replace was redesigned and the other one was not needed. Put new zip ties in place. Slid the new part into position and pressed the ends into the solenoid valves. You do not need to press in colored locking pieces, they will self lock. Secured with zip ties. Grabbed a container and filled it up with water through the door to fill and purge and check for leaks. Reconnect light clip, reinstalled top liner and snapped into place. Put screws in. Closed filter door. Took about 15 minutes. I did watch a you tube video prior to attempting this repair myself.

  • Sung-Su from BISMARCK, ND
  • Very Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
Popped out with butter knife and unplugged 3 prong connector and reversed with anew switch.

But, unfortunately it got broken again exactly same way as before.
So, I ordered same switch again for 2nd time.

Maytag should recall that Rocker Switch and build with better materials.
