Total repair time was approx 5 minutes .

Dryer start knob was cracked inside so you couldn't turn to start the dryer
3 of 4 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Joseph from ACKERMAN, MS
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Pliers
This was so easy. I used needle nose pliers to reach in and remove the metal clip which had slipped off of the inside of the knob and was on the post the knob was supposed to attach to. Next, I lined up the flat side of the "D" of the inside of the knob to the flat side of the "D" on the post and pushed it in until it snapped into place , and I was done. The dryer now works like new.

Lots of paper towels to sop up water in bottom of washer and on floor. Unhooked electrical wires. Socket to remove pump. Reverse actions to replace pump. It's "plug and play"!

I pushed a small screwdriver under the top lid and pulled the front out and lifted it out or the way. The rubber hose had two clamps holding it. One you loosen with a flat screwdriver and the other one you squeeze with pliers to remove hose. Then replace hose and put front back on. It's very simple.

My wife was ready to go out and buy a new wash er when it only cost a little over $13.00 to get it fixed.

The timer knob was cracked and the metal "D"-Ring was broken on my GE cloths dryer
2 of 2 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Lynn from MORGANTOWN, WV
  • Very Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
This repair was a no brainer repair. The factory replacement knob that I bought from this site comes with a new "D"-Ring. Some other aftermarket parts houses sell the knob and the "D"-Ring as seperate parts. The knob from this site already has the "D"-Ring ring installed in the knob. My "D"-ring was broken and I simply removed it with my fingers. All I had to do was properly align the new know knob with the timer shaft and press it into place. If your "D"-ring is not broken and not still inside the old knob, you will need to pull it off the shaft with a pair of pliers before pressing the new knob onto the timer shaft. Unplug washer to keep from running.Pull out on selector. After determining how knob was held in place, used coat hanger with short 90 on one end to catch clip holding knob in place. Pulled clip, removed knob.Placed clip on back of new knob just enough to hold. Placed knob on shaft, pressed down on clip to lock in place. All Done. Use of small flashlight is helpful. Replug washer.
