Fridge quit working.
1 person found this instruction helpful.
  • Bill from Bay City, MI
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers, Wrench set
A little research told me the hum plus no cooling was either the compressor or the relay. I ordered the new relay and put it in but it didn't fix the problem. I ended up having to buy a new fridge, but it was worth the $30 gamble to see if I could fix it on the cheap and it saved me the money a service call would've cost. Pretty easy i nstallation, just in a tight space on my model.

Evaporator freezing up. Noticed Ice cream not frozen solid
0 of 1 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Paul from Buffalo, MN
  • Really Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers
Notice ice build up on the panel in front of the evaporator coil. Unplugged freezer and removed evaporator panel. Plugged unit back in and checked fan, coil "snap switch" and heater element, all seemed to check out good. Found defrost timer stuck in the freeze position, causing frost to accumulate over the evaporator. Manually rotated defrost timer to the 30min defrost cycle and system went into defrost. Ordered defrost timer and installed (part arrived in 3 days). Freezer works great again. Too bad I ended up throwing 400 dollars worth of meat away. the fix was very simple. Will definitely use PartSelect again. Thank you.

Fan in freezer quit
  • Dan from Woodstock, GA
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers
This was an easy job. First remove the ice maker, if you have one. Mine was mounted with just two screws. Loosen these screws, unplug the power cord at the connector and then lift the ice maker off. Remove the light bulb cover and the light bulb, just so you dont break it. Remove two hex screws and the back cover can be removed. My fan wa s mounted in the middle of a bracket retained between two rubber bushingings. Just push the fan blad of the shaft and pull the motoer out. Dissonect the power cord at the connector. My moter was differant than the replacement on the mounting so with the removial of the two screws on the motor I was able to exchange the upper and lower cast motoer housings. Reverse the assembly process and you good. Mine is running great.

Freezer was warm
  • Charles from Macomb, MI
  • Really Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers
I first noticed my ice cream getting soft. Then 2 days later the alarm went. I emptied the freezer, opened the panels and saw no frost. I saw that 99% of issues were resolved with a defrost timer and thermostat so I ordered those. I have to say the parts came quickly and they went in very easy. My freezer seems to be in the 1% categor y though. It's still not cooling even though I can measure the temperature at the front of the evaporator coil is cold but by the end of the coil it's almost room temperature. I think a repairman is called for.

Took interior panel off and uncliped yhe termination switch and cliped the new one on the coil and connected the two wires very simple. The defrost timer was located in the rear of the unit on the right side at the bottom. Removed the 2 screws holding the bracket unpluged the timer and removed the timer. The new timer allready had a br acket so just plug in and install the 2 screws. Pluged the unit in and worked great make sure that the freezer is unpluged before changing any part

Frige and freezer not cooling
  • FRANK from BRADENTON, FL
  • Really Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver
I should have ordered start kit instead of start capacitor. The start cap astir did not fix problem so I ordered kit. Compasator comes as part of kit. Followed enclosed instructions. Cut existing wires and reconnected new wiring. Simple as that. It's a plug in item. Now worried it may be working to good. Freezer down to 10 deg. Watching to see if compressor is running to long. Seems ok lol. Wife hates me now. She wanted new frige.
