I removed the two screws, removed the broken grill, popped in the new grill (after I ordered the correct color, did not get the biscuit color I thought I had ordered the first time) replaced the two screws....I was good to go. Strange that the tabs in the first place just fell apart...but reading others, find this seems to be a common pr oblem. Simple as pie.

Very easy to replace. A short ladder provides easy access to two small Phillips screws on the top of the existing grill.
Remove and keep these screws to re-use.
Remove old cover and discard.
Fit tabs on the bottom of the new cover into position on microwave and press entire cover securely in place matching the screw hole s to the existing microwave.
Replace small Phillips screws securely.
Step back and admire your microwave!

We took a chance on the less expensive black Whirlpool vent grille as I found online that it would fit our stainless steel Kitchenaid microwave. My husband was able to pry the stainless cover off the broken grille and snap it onto the new black one. Then just screw in the top screws to secure. We are very happy with the stainless/black of the new setup. It goes very well with the stainless/black of the cooktop and oven.
