TEF356SCWD Tappan Range - Instructions

After doing without the oven for a week or so we decided to turn to the internet and try doing the repair ourselves. We are not mechanically inclined/fix it yourself kind of people. This really was easy. Just detach the old element and attached the new one. A couple of bolts and snapping one out and then the new one in. Very simple

Must say I was dreading going to some parts house that we have in our town in bad area, and searching on dusty shelves for what I needed...am so glad I found you!!

this bake element has two special Hex style screws, securing it in place, but a nut driver worked just as well. remove the baking racks, and then loosen the two hex screws. slowly pull the element out of the back wall and then disconnect the electric leads. reinstall by doing then the opposite action. could not have be simpler.

after pulling away from wall and unplugging remove 5 screws in upper back panel lift off being careful of sharp edges if part of lens is still in hole push it out towards the front insert lens from front of unit slide light assy over pin on back of lens replace back panel plug in range push back against wall check for level you're done

All I had to do was loosen the screws, pull out electrical hookup on both ends, hookup new heating element to elecric and screw em into place. That's it, super easy and I got the part in 2 day : )

Using small square tip screwdriver (#1 if my memory is correct), removed two screws at rear of oven pulled old element carefully by pulling, removed wire from each side, attached wires to new element, slid to back feeding wire back where they had been, put screws back in, tightened and viola, stove working great. Removed the defective part. Install the new part, insert the connectors. Now its working

I flipped the 220 circuit breaker to shut off the electricity. I unscrewed the old element (2 screws). One problem I ran into was that there was insulation packed tight around the old wire, so when I went to pull it out one of the connectors came undone. So I had to take the small plate off the back of the stove and fish the wire back ... Read more through. I connected the new wires and screwed the element to the back. I only needed a square head screw-driver for the whole job. It would've taken me 5 minutes if I wouldn't have had to fish the wire back through. Still, it only took around 20 minutes and was really easy. The element cost me less than half of what an appliance repair shop charged. I'm a woman, and I've never attempted anything like this before but the video made it so easy to do! Thanks for saving me a bundle of money!

Removed the screws, replaced it with the new bake element, put the screws back in........and bam! I'm back in business. That's how easy this was to repair. Bake element cost me 40 bucks, appliance repair shop wanted about 200 bucks to repair.

I removed the four screws holding the element in place and pulled the element out and disconnected the two wire. Installation was pretty much the reverse of the removal except, when I went to put the two screws holding the element to the top of the oven I discovered the holes were rusted out. I finally realized the oven is just sheet metal so I moved the bracket about an inch drilled new holes and used self-tapping screws.

Replaced the switch very easily! Working great

Repair is simple and straight forward. Simply open oven door and remove oven racks. A philips #2 screwdriver is needed to remove 2 screws, 1 on each side at lower portion back of of oven..Slowly pull heating element out towards front of oven, wires will pull out with it. Simply wiggle and unplug spade connectors on each side, plug new end ... Read more s of heating element into wires. Slide heating element back in re-attach removed screws not over tightening just till snug.

Front drawer glides: Remove oven drawer and this is a good time to give it a good solid cleaning. Clorox wipes and elbow grease. The handle can be removed to clean under neath as well just a few screws to remove with the same philips screw driver.

The front drawer glides do not mount on the drawer, they mount on each lower side of drawer opening above lower glides. There is a squared off small opening on each side for the glides to pop into with small square notches at the bottom of each hole.

Take the curved part of the glide and angle the insertion going into the hole turning down and pushing in, the glide will "Pop" or "Click" when seated.

That's it. Save time and money and fix it your self. You don't need to buy a new range when parts and do it your self are less than $30.00.

ordered new heating element, arrived promptly as expected, compared new heating element to old one and it matched in size only diameter a little different, removed two sheet metal screws holding element in place and pulled out element to expose conductors and removed them with screwdriver. The repair took less time than finding the model number. After unplugging the range and allowing it to cool I disconnected the element (2 screws), went online and found Part Select ordered the element and saved $16.00 dollars over the least expensive local shop, I was amazed at how fast the element arrived, I believe it was 4 days from or ... Read more der to my door. I went to my local hardware store for some new connectors for the wire, put them on and plugged in the element fastened down the two screws and went back to baking cookies. The element was well and safely packed and came in perfect condition. It works like a charm. Thank You
