I started a load in my washing machine. It started to fill, there was a burning smell and now will not do anything. What could be the cause of this?

Hello Rebekah, Thank you for the question. There are a few parts you can check. If the appliance is still powering on, we suggest checking the Motor Start Capacitor. You can use a multi meter to test the Ohms. Place the meter leads across the terminals, the display or indicator should deflect a "closed" circuit (infinite resistance) and drop back down to an open(no resistance) circuit, if it is good. You can also check the Washer Lid Switch and the wiring. The Switch should show Continuity. You can check the Clutch and the Direct Drive Motor Coupling for wear or damage. We hope this helps!
