S210 - Instructions

I watched the video from the web site and the one that came with my invoice. This made it very easy to fix.I got the tools that I needed and went to town on the repair.

I bought 3 parts for I didn't know what I need so I listen to the companies video twice.
I popped off the agitator which was easy. then had a little trouble with getting the screw/nut out it was rusty. Finally got that off then I worked backwards and I found I didn't need all the parts which I sent back with no problems. My machine w ... Read more orks as good as new ,it has stopped making noise. I am really proud I did this by myself and didn't need my husbands help,

I also spent less than 12.00 to fix and a new one is over 600.00.

Removed knob by using screwdriver to pry out plastic retainer. Put new knob on the timer. Took about 5 minutes. The problem was caused by the wearing out of the teeth on the knob.

I researched what could be the problem in the internet and follow the instructions from a GE technician, I chose the problem from a list and followed the video the technician played on how to do it yourself. Read more e new lid, only the switch gets bad so I cut the cable enough to replace the old one, pulled out and cut and connected the new one. If there is not enough cable use the spatula to push the clips on the front panel on the top both side about 5 inches from the corner and pull panel out front and now you can see the wires better and make the connection.

Our GE washer stopped agitating. We bought us a Whirlpool Cabrio washer with auto-sensing and an impeller instead of an agitator. My wife couldn't get used to washing clothes with so little water. Took the Whirlpool back to the store, got our $637.00 back.I plan to use PartSelect.com again,if I need to. We don't like the new type washers as well as our 7-1/2 year old GE.

1.Pulled the agitator out. Unscrewed the top nut, which was a little tricky to break loose since it had been in place for over 10 years. Pulled out the entire washing cylinder to unscrew and replace the hub. Not bad but you need to take out the inner tub and that requires doing a little extra unscrewing and prying.

Used this site to find probable problem - stripped teeth on knob - and how to get old knob off using needle nosed pliers to remove clip. So also ordered replacement knob from this site - got it in one day! Took about 2 minutes to put replacement knob on. Most of repair time was figuring out what the problem was.

I removed agitator by pulling it up until it unsnaped.

I removed the old agitator coupling by removing the bolt and pulling up while twisting it.

The new coupling looks different than the old part but fits the same.

Followed video on You tube that showed step by step how to compete repair.
The machine used in video was brand new and there was no corrosion on any parts so disassembly was much easier in video than on 9 year old machine.

I followed the video from the website to install the lid switch. Worked like a charm. Great instructions. You do need to supply your own butt splice connectors .

Manufacturers info for accessing the timer was vague and I ended up removing more of the shell than was necessary. Once the timer was exposed, the removal and reinstallation was quick and painless.

First I located the trouble. I noticed that it was water leaking and figured it had to be a hose. I took the front panel off of the washer and after noticing that the drain hose had a slight hole in it, realized that I could fix it and save myself a repair call. I entered minimal information and the picture of the item that I was looking for, the Drain Inlet Hose, was staring at me! Within 3 business days and less than 20 dollars spent, I repaired my washing machine. The total time spent to repair after I received the hose took about 10 minutes. I will definitely use parts select .com and recommend to all my friends and family. Thank you.

I removed the front panel, disconect the Level Pressure Switch and conect the new one, the only thing that took me most of the tima was calibrate the instrument.

Read more hose let the machine fill up with water up to the firt level ( small load), to do this,calculate the water amount, then blow the hose to leave the hose free off air to create, a vacume then install it on the original position.

I was using vice grips to turn the control knob (stub) until the new knob arrived. The replacement knob was a redesigned type with a metal backing plate to place on the control knob stub (better than the original plastic knob) however the diameter of the new knob is only half the size of the original knob and the mark on the dial does not ... Read more line up with the markings on the dryer control panel making it difficult to know what cycle you are using or how far to turn the dial within each cycle before passing to the next cycle.

I removed the old knob (very easy, used a flathead screwdriver to remove the clip and off it came). Put the new knob and clip on and voila!!!! It worked. My local appliance people wanted over $100.00 for the same part. Definately using Parts Select if issues arise in the future.
