RTM24010 Hoover Refrigerator - Instructions

Having 2 people makes the job a snap. On our model the freezer door had to be partially removed so the other door can be lifted off, then slightly tighten freezer door in place. Read more back and tightened firmly. Loosen the freezer door and set the bottom door back in place, make sure doors clear each other and tighten down. Finished! I took the advice of another post and put gasket in clothes dryer for about 5 minutes,helps a bunch. Start to finish,30 minutes. Taking food out of door & replacing.

Removed the 2 screws holding the light bulb shield, then the 4 uolding the metal panel. Unplugged the olw door switch and replaced.
reassembled the pieces.

No need to repeat the other directions, everyone is spot on with exactly what to do, the ONLY thing I want to add is that prior to putting the new gasket on, throw it into the dryer for a few minutes to make it more pliable..... I removed the top door hinge plate and removed the door (it is much easier to do this with the door removed. I put all the food into an ice chest and that made a hardy work area to set the door on and remove the screws holding the inner door and seal. First took all frozen food out and than undid the screws that held back on--than cut the wires that held the piece and replaced it but also found that the plug was frozen so we thawed that out, that is why it took longer. Used air compressor to blow air and it broke it free and than we finished and put the food back after it got cold. So ... Took doors off, placed on counter, removed the screws ans installed gaskets seals.

Referencing the info/schematics you have on your website, I unscrewed/unattached top-front panel (carefully), from behind the panel you have to detach the wires (2) from the switch, pushed "in" the switch to remove, put in new switch and attach wires to test BEFORE remounting panel. Repair went well,took about five to ten minutes to disconnect the power from the fridge removed the defective switch installed the new one ,reconnected the power,,,and Let there be light and there was light!

I simply removed the old switch by gently pulling down on the old switch with a screwdriver. When it was about half way out I just gently pulled down on the old switch and it popped out... Read more he connectors off so I used pliers. It worked perfectly.. When pulling off the old connectors, make sure you attach the new switch to the same tabs on the new switch... It was very easy to do and took under 5 mins.....The light switch works perfect....P.S. You should unplug the frig while making the connection just in case....Safety first....!!!

inserted a knife between the switch and the plastic interior in order to pop the switch out.
then took off the 2 wires on the old switch put them on the new switch and reinserted the switch into the plastic interior.

I took a chance and ordered a switch that is next to the top of the door. looked for how to remove it easily done in ten minutes works fine last long time.

Once I identified the bit that would remove the screw, the rest of the repair took 5 minutes. I removed the screw and discarded the remains of the original but now broken shelf support. With the same screw I simply attached the new shelf support that I received from PartSelect.com. End of story.

In my case the defrost thermostat was not the problem. Not worth going through the hassle of checking the thermostat as I would have had to cut it out and test it in another freezer (while the food that was in the freezer was being stored elsewhere). I ended up getting a drain tube heater strap, and have been keeping my eye on the fridge. It hasn't been long enough to say the strap fixed the problem, but all indications are pointing to that being the case.
