Door Light switch cracked Mounting
I noticed that the refrigerator was having trouble maintaining temperature. Thought it might be time for new one until I found out that a new frig was $5k to $7K. Just happened to notice that the light switch didn't look quite right (was not sitting sqaure to the door). Once I pressed it it came loose. I then realized the the lights were staying on (50 watts of heating). Replaced the switch and the frig started working like new.

My owners manual said to unplug fridge from elec outlet, use a kitchen knife to gently pry off the switch plate
(manual had a pictoral example), unclip the two wire, replace with on new switch and replace the switch. Close
door and plug back in. Open door to check that the lite
works. Walla! It did. Thanks!

Ice Maker failed. Replaced
I was lucky in that I already had an ice maker and just had to replace the unit. The parts and instructions were complete and easy to follow. Installation was a breeze with no concerns at all. The new unit is working flawlessly and we are very happy with the results. Thank you for supplying a quality replacement and excellent support via the instructions. The service was outstanding and I had my unit in about 3 days!!!

Switch was not working after a repairman had fixed something else
Please bear in mind I am 65 years old & it was harder to get up & down off the floor then to change the switch. Was very easy - watched video, unplugged unit. I used the putty knife at the right front corner to work loose, when it came loose had to loose the left side a little. The unit pulled out easily. detached the wired that had a single plug with 2 prongs on it. Attached the plug, pushed new switch into place. There was no way you could place wires on wrong prong. When done, plugged refrigerator back in & checked if working. I CAN SEE THE LIGHT and the food in the freezer now. Thank you for making an easy repair.

Auto defrost not working
Followed a youtube diagnostic video on a whirlpool fridge with the same configuration. After determining that the problem was the thermostat I ordered the part from parstselect. I was pleasantly surprised by both the fair shipping price and the 2 day arrival. Replacement was as simple. Cut the old wires, wire nut the new ones. Wire colors are the same on my old unit and the replacement, but these generally aren't polarized anyways.

Both light bulbs had been replaced, but lights did not turn on.
I tried to remove the old light switch using a putty knife and a hammer. It was hard to compress the plastic tabs to pull it back through the hole, but all of a sudden, the lights came on. I guess banging on the switch freed-up the contacts. The new switch is now a spare part in case I need it.

Original Ice Maker of 21 years died.
Ordered the complete ice maker kit because I wasn't sure which part went bad. I replaced the ice maker assembly first which was very easy to do. I couldn't tell if the new ice maker was doing anything. I waited almost 16 hours before the ice maker started to run and make ice. I would just say to be patient after installing these parts if you don't immediatly see anything happening. Saving the solenoid and other extra parts if needed in the future.

My old ice maker was leaking after 20 years
I was pleased with the new ice maker and how soon I received it. I was disappointed because there were NO installation instructions that came with it. There were only service instructions that came with it. I contacted partselect and was told that they get the part from whirlpool and they are responsible for everything and was given a phone number to call. I called Whirlpool and was informed that they don't provide installation instructions, I said that on the web page is boldly displayed an installation instruction sheet. Whirlpool said that they expect that the installation person knows what they are doing. I let it go and was very careful taking the old one out and installing the new ice maker and the new pump.

Protective cover for bulb had melted
I tried to just replace the cover rather than the whole unit but it was impossible - the cover would not go/stay on. I tried to remove the old unit completely but it would not unplug it was practically fused to the back of the fridge and the liner was cracking. I ended up breaking the cover and jerry rigging it over the bulb to prevent items in the fridge from being able to touch. Bad solution.
