Toughest chore was to find a tool to remove the two hex screws that held the element to the back of the oven. Once I found the proper tool, the rest was easy. Replacing the electric oven element was easy. It took about 20 minutes and all you need is a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. What you have to do first, turn the power to the oven OFF. Remove the original element carefully observing how

First I turned the power off to the oven. Then I tried to take out the nuts holding in the element. One nut came off easily, the other one was rusted on, I had to use wd40 to loosen it. Read more new element to the wires, re-attached the screws, pushed it back in, attached the nuts that hold the element in the oven. Then I turned the power back on and the oven works like a charm. I installed it the day I got it. I was surprised how quickly it was shipped to my house. I am so glad I repaired the oven, a new one would have cost over $800, I bought the element for less than $30, including shipping! It also sets a good example for my daughter. It taught her that her mom can repair things too, it's not just something men can do!

First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and made sure that there was no power feeding the element. Slid the element back after the connection screws were tightened and tightened the mounting screws. Reenergized and tested. The job went well - easier than expected...

Removed the coverplate screws, slid the element outward, and removed the wire connecting screws. Positioned the new element to reconnect the wires, and discovered this isn't easy to see with trifocals. Succeeded after several failed attempts. Slid the new element into position, and reattached the cover plate.

Removed the 2 screws that held element in place. Pulled the element out about 2 inches to disconect the wires. I then reattached the new element and replaced the screws holding the element in place.

Removed the bad part. There were 4 screws,
Found part on the internet.
When part arrived I installed it using the screws that I removed when I took out the bad part.

I have to admit that I tried to remove the element myself but I did not have the right tool for the last two screws. If I did it would have been very easy. I ordered the part and had someone else put it in so I cheated.

First I Shut off the breaker from the fuse box
Tried to turn oven on to make sure I tripped the correct breaker
Removed element from back wall of oven by removing 2 screws using a socket set
Gently pull out element a few inches and then unscrew 2 wires from the bake element using a phillips screwdriver

Screw wires to element
Attach new element to back wall of oven making sure the rectagular hole is totally covered and the element is flush against the back wall
Replace screws attaching baking element to back of oven wall
Turn on breakers and test the oven

My Husband did the repair while I wasn't home. He didn't bother to shut off the power even though he should have. He didn't electicute himself or burn down the house and the oven works great so I guess it was a success!

Put in the new element and reconnected the wires. Pushed the wires and element back into place and screwed in the screws that hold the element in place.
