RB633GS1 Hotpoint Range - Instructions

It was pretty simple. Just remove the door as the bottom piece holds all the parts together. Place on table top and remove old trim. Install new trim and install door. Because of the superb pics and descriptions on the Part Select site, I was able (with NO range model number) to order the correct range element for beloved son's stove. He plugged it in in 3 seconds, works great !

I first removed the unit by pulling gently from connection. Replaced the new one in that same manner - simply inserting into connection.

Very easy, I'll probably try it again soon.

I looked on Youtube for a how to video. It was accurate but the screws in my oven were NOT phillips head screws, they turned out to be sheet metal screws. I used pliers at first which was a PAIN but then I borrowed a socket wrench from the neighbor that was MUCH better!! I had wanted to do it myself to prove to my husband and son that I c ... Broiler element arrived at my door 3 days after ordering which was nice. Apparently the billing dept. is out of the USA so don't be surprised, like I was, to find a suspicious looking charge for a currency exchange fee (mine was 42 cents). I had to drill two new screw holes in the base of the new element in order for it to fit my oven. ... Read more I also had to use heavy wire snips to cut off about an inch of the top of the new element base. The female electrical connections also had to be spread out with needle nose pliers since the new element connections were slightly thicker. With all of the issues I had I was frustrated and it took about two hours. On the other hand, the part works perfectly and was priced right. Hopefully it will fit perfectly out of the box for your oven.

When the part arrived, I used the diagram provided by the website to see what really needed to be done. Keep in mind, if you're doing it correctly and disconnect the range from the power source, it's going to be dark inside the oven. Get a good flashlight or electric lantern. I removed the with a socket attachment/adapter to my cordless drill/screwdriver, and the part came right out. Some insulation will come as well - don't panic. Installation is similar, just in reverse order. Pay attention to the feet on the element. Make certain they are down. Don't lean on them when you think you're finished and discover that you installed it upside down like someone I know, and have to pull it out to correct this.

I removed the unit easily with anut driver, however the unit also supported the thermo-link. I had to use the hack saw to relieve a small opening for the thermo-link to pass through. No real problem. Then a few holes to be drilled to attach the 'link' to the base of the broiler unit.

Removed 4 screws holding the control panel removed the receptacle wires removed the screw holding the receptacle in place. Inserted the new receptacle screwed it in inserted the the wires to control knob. Screwed the control panel in place. Replaced 2 burners and 2 elements with in a half hour. Simple. Took Switch panel off range. Disconnected Infinite switch. Reinstalled infinite switch.. Replaced panel. Repair was very simple and self explainatory.

Removed 2 nuts holding the baking unit to the oven back, removed 2 nuts holding wires in place, installed new unit following procedure backwards. It takes longer to get the tools,take the oven door off, and take racks out than it does to remove and replace the baking unit.

I followed the instructions given to me in the package and all went well. I cut the old wires off the burnt terminal block, stripped the wires, installed the wire nuts with the shrink rap, installed the new terminal block and burner. The new burner is working great! Thanks

Unplugged the range, took old elements out, put new ones in. Couldn't have been easier and for the total cost of about $60; I have a working oven again. A LOT cheaper than a new $600 range!!

Gasket sent did not match the profile of the original. Only after trimming off two long edges of the gasket did it come close to matching the original. I would not recommend using this replacement gasket for this oven model. 1-Remove door. 2-Loosen the 2 oven box attachment nuts on the back of the oven. (loosen only, about 3/8") 3-slide ... Read more the oven box toward the front of the oven. 4-remove old gasket, and insert new. 5-Retighten 2 oven box attachment nuts. 6-Reinstall door. Took especially long because of incorrect gasket. Deep well socket required to loosen oven box attachment nuts. Recommend two people to do, one in back, for attachment nut and one in front to keep gasket in place while tightning nuts.

I simply replaced the element. HOWEVER, the most wonderful parts of this repair...Because of the pictures and closeups and descriptions I knew exactly 'what' to order!
