I started by Unscrewing the range top. 2 small screws. I took off the old piece by unclipping the piece . Then I color coded each wire so that I would know exactly where I would place the wires for the new part. 30 min maximum time spent changing the part. Please don't forget to unplug the range before you start.

Ordered the dual replacement. I am 76 so I had someone else do it. It took him about 15 minutes. Just pulled the oven forward about 8" so he could lift the top up. 2 Screws to release the top. Then just removed the part and plugged in the replacement. Rescrewed the top screws and pushed the oven back.

Parts Select sent a new one that i received in only a few days.
our stove is slid into a granite island so the disassembly was not as simple as most. It was necessary to remove the controls, the controls housing & screws along the top of the oven door.

Broken shaft on downdraft speed switch

The controls are on the glasstop and no way to access them from below, so the glass top has to be removed by removing any straps/braces from below and raising the rangetop housing above the counter height.

The foil tape connecting to the downdraft ductwork will need to be removed. Make sure you have foil tape to reseal this co nnection.

The black foam tape between the cooktop housing and the countertop will need to be separated with a putty knife. Be sure to have the 1/4” low density foam tape on hand for replacement.

Remove the 6 knobs by lifting them upward and then lift the housing above counter height.

The loosened housing can be supported by two pieces of 1x2 that straddle the opening. The sheet metal screws around the perimeter are easily removed and a putty knife under the glass should release the glass. Once the glass is removed, you’ll see an electrical control box with the 6 switches. The fan switch is held in place with two screws. The switch can then be accessed from the side and replaced. Just note the 4 colored wires and move them to the new switch. There’s a 5th contact that’s unused.

Reassembly is straightforward but you’ll need to remove any remaining foam tape, clean the underside and the countertop before applying the new tape.

Turned off power. Disconnected wire connector going to the fan switch. This allows room to lift the stove. Using a thin paint scraper, go around the stove top and counter to loosen the top. I did not have any brackets underneath that were holding it down. Push from underneath to lift the stove top. Have two boards ready to support t he stove top after you lift it. You now have access to the eight screws that hold the ceramic top in place, two on each side. Use your paint scraper to loosen the ceramic top from the base. The top of the fan switch is held in place with two screws. Take these off. Unplug the fan switch and plug in new one. Put everything back together.
