Float Chamber Packing – Part Number: 214-62540-08

Float Chamber Packing
Part #214-62540-08
A bowl gasket is designed to create a tight and secure seal between the carburetor bowl and main body of the carburetor, and when it is damaged or not working properly it can cause fuel contamination, loss of engine vacuum and air leakage. This gasket is compatible with various models of engines and is sold as an individual part, without any other hardware. Due to exposure to heat and fuel this gasket can rip, crack and even shrink, leading to fuel leaks as well as other problems for your engine. It is easier to replace this gasket than to maintain it, and you can replace it with a few tools, such as wrenches and screwdrivers. Depending on your model, that process may look different, but ensure the engine is turned off before you disconnect and remove the hardware securing the bowl. Then you carefully lift the bowl off the carburetor, and clean the mating surfaces, after which you replace the gasket and reassemble the carburetor body, ensuring it is all aligned properly and tighten to its manufacturing standard.

Cup
Part #277-62100-18
This carburetor float bowl, sourced from the original manufacturer, is a cup/bowl-shaped part that receives fuel from the fuel inlet and holds it for use in the engine combustion chamber. It contains a float and needle valve (sold separately) which aid in regulating the fuel levels in the bowl. The bowl itself is made from a high-quality plastic to resist corrosion and can be found underneath the carburetor. If you have noticed fuel leaking from the engine, hard starting, rough idling, and engine flooding, this indicates that the float bowl may be faulty. The bowl can fail due to several reasons, such as general wear from exposure to heat and fuel, contamination from dirt/debris or improper installation. Before you begin your repair, disconnect the fuel lines. Remove the faulty bowl and check that the bowl gasket is still in good condition, if not, you will need to replace the gasket well. Place the new bowl on to the body of the carburetor and secure it with the appropriate fasteners.

Gasket
Part #021-11400-20
This gasket, also known as the oil drain plug gasket, is a ring-shaped, metal component used in outdoor power engines. It is supplied by the manufacturer and can be found at the bottom of the engine oil pan where the drain plug is installed. The gasket is responsible for sealing the area between the oil drain plug and the engine block to prevent oil from leaking during oil changes. Over time the gasket can wear down, corrode, or crack. If the gasket can no longer seal the area, oil will escape from the oil pan, leading to inadequate lubrication, increased friction, and engine damage. Before you begin the repair, drain the oil from the engine to prevent contamination. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the oil drain plug. Peel off the old gasket, and thoroughly clean the drain plug and oil pan surface. Install the new gasket and ensure that it sits firmly on the oil pan. Finally, reinstall the drain plug, and be careful to avoid overtightening it.
