Ordered the bake element part from partselect.com. When the part arrived I removed the 2 6mm screws from the element, I used two clips to hold the wires in place so that they didn't receed back into the stove. I installed the bake element, installed the two scews ans was done. It took all of 10minutes.

Gizmo in oven that gets red hot when you bake had burned out.

Gizmo = Bake Element held in place with 2 bolts inside of oven. Removing them only difficult because they are so deep in oven. I did not have the correct size nut driver so I started with my socket wrench then switched to putting the correct size socket on the end of a long screwdriver. After removing the 2 bolts fund element did not s lide out easily so went to back of stove and removed a metal protective cover. Found electrical lines secured to the ends of the element. Had someone hold element while I pulled each of the 2 loose - at which time bake element fell loose. Put new one in by reversing the process. That night wife set stove to Clean - and said best it has been cleaned in years.

Lower heating element broke and burst in flames

  • Heinz from Colleyville, TX

On the website, the heating element looked exactly the same with same measurements as the old one. However, the part I received did not match. The screw holes where the element attaches to the back were wider apart and higher. Plus, the leads curved up instead of being straight.

The light inside the oven had burned out

  • Catherine from SEATTLE, WA
  • Very Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
0. As a safety precaution, unplug the range or hit the relevant fuse breaker before you start. You might also want to grab a flashlight. Definitely do not try to do this while the oven is hot.
1. Pinch the wire over the light bulb cap to remove it. This is inside the oven at the back.
2. Pop off the hemispherical glass cap. ... Read more />3. Unscrew the old light bulb, and screw the new light bulb in its place.
4. Put the cap back.
5. Secure the cap by putting the wire back in its slots on the cap.

No tools needed, the cap is just held in place with pressure from the wire.

Lower bake element burned out

  • Belinda from Rockford, IL
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins

I didn't know anything about this repair, other than I was replacing a part, so it never occurred to me that I needed to make sure there was no power to the oven. When I pulled the element out, there was a large spark. I flipped the breaker off, then finished the R&R.

Make sure you turn power off at the breaker, then replace the element.

Bake unit started on fire then cracked in half.

  • Sachin from Omaha, NE
  • Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Socket set, Wrench (Adjustable)
We ordered the part from PartSelect and received it the next day. Didn't even have to move the range out from the wall. Just unscrewed the two screws on the back wall of the stove that hold the bake element in place with a socket wrench, then pulled the old bake element and wires out about 2-3 inches so we could disconnect the old bake unit. The element was kind of hard to pull out, but after you pull it from the wires, just plug in the new bake unit, push the wires back in and put the screws back in. Oven was up and working again!

Bake unit caught fire and a 3 inch section burned away

  • Mark from Comstock Park, MI
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Socket set
Becuase of the fire we had used a chemical based fire extinguisher, which made a real mess in the whole main floor of the house. I removed the oven from the house and used a leaf blower to get rid of all the white chemical powder (like a baking soda of sorts). Once that issue was done, I removed the part in less than 5 minutes. Two scr ews to remove it and then unpluged the two wire clips from the back of the stove under the shield which also had 6 screws to remove. It took only 3 days to have a new one delivered and I installed it in less than 5 minutes. The oven works fine now. It took much longer to clean the house than fix the oven.

The heating element broke in half.

  • Paul from Louisville, KY
  • Easy

  • Screw drivers, Socket set
This was a very simple procedure. I removed the 2 screws in the oven itself (holding the element in place), then pushed the element through the back of the oven so the wires were exposed, then slipped off the wires, the male end from the female end, I then removed the entire element. I put the new element in the over, re-attached the wire s, put the screws back in place, replaced the cover, and the oven was as good as new.

Removed the rear panel from the Range using the nut driver. pulled the terminal wires off the back of the heating element. Double checked if there was continuity across the heating element terminals before removing the element. If there is none, its bad. remove the two screws inside the oven holding the element in place. Once free, lift t he front of the element to about 30 degrees and pull towards you. Insert the new element in the reverse manner then secure it using the two screws. Push the terminal wires onto the terminals on the back of the element and reinstall the rear panel.
