Good morning. The dour ice Dispenser will not stop running until the bin is empty. The motor runs and the flap stays open for over a minute. What do i need to fix?

For model number LFX28968ST

Hello Gabriel, thank you for asking. If water is dispensed continuously, the dispenser lever or switch may be stuck in the "pushed in" position. Residue build-up on the dispenser is the most likely cause. We would recommend trying to un-stick the lever and then clean any residue build-up. If this does not help, you may want to change the dispenser lever (part number PS3534647). Sometimes it can be the issue of the dispenser micro switch (part number PS3529276). The switch sits behind the pad or lever that is pressed to dispense ice.
