Replaced electronic control panel first which had an obvious defect (burned terminal). Still no power. Replaced fuse and works fine now. Took lots of reading to find out the dishwasher had a replacable fuse. Even the appliance store didn't know.

Read dianostic sheet included on dishwasher lower panel. It stated to not replace both touch panel and circuit board until you run the dianostic tests. Great fro the manaufactor to save parts money, but the testing would take another hour to perform, so, I was already saving $200 to $300 by doing the repair myself, I replaced both, worki ng slowly and carefully. about 1.5 hours. total cost of both parts was under $300 shipped to me in 2 days. great service for sure. dishwasher onw works correctly. I suspect lightning damage, as we had big thunder stroms earlier that week.

Chopper not performing

I noticed some residue in the dishwasher so I decided to clean the chopper screen. I dismantled the screen and spray assemblies and removed the chopper. The chopper was extremely worn and the chopper washer/gasket was missing. I reassembled the parts I removed and as I was placing the screws in the screen assembly I dropped a screw into t he impeller well. Since the screws are stainless I was forced to remove the whole motor assembly. Since I had to order a chopper I went ahead and ordered a motor assembly gasket for reassembly. The mistake I made was not ordering a drain valve at the same time for when I removed the valve to clean it the rubber separated. The dishwasher will not function without it. This is where PartsSelect really came through for me. The 2-3 day shipping came in 2 days and the drain valve which was really going to hold me up with standard shipping came the very next day! Way to go PartsSelect! Everything went back together just fine.

Thanks to the previous review of this part, I was able to figure out how to do the replacement myself and saving $150 on a service call. The part is super easy to replace. Remove the screws on the door, lift the outside piece of the door up and off the hinges and then unplug the old piece. I had turned off the electricity to the dishwas her to avoid getting shocked. There were 4 hex nut screws holding the part in, removed those & popped out the old part. Installed the new one, put the door back on and the screws, turned it on and no leaks. This part was so easy to replace, even for a 52 year old woman like myself!

It was easy! First I ordered the expensive replacement parts on line. The parts arrived in one week. I was able to slide the old drawers out, slip a few parts off of the old drawers, snap them on and slide the new drawers in place!

I found an exact match to my rinse aid cap on your website and ordered it. It came to my house in 2 days. It fit the dishwasher, and I used it tonight for the first time with the rinse aid. (With the change in detergents, the detergent alone was not leaving the dishes and silverware feeling smooth and clean.) The dishes came out much better tonight.

The top rack began to fall out of the track on the right side. Replacing it into the track was not a permanent fix. I could not visually see anything wrong but obviously something was. A web search quickly brought up a picture of that area of our machine. I ordered the part and upon installation,

I had to getto the side of the machine. After that, it was simply removing 4 screws and removing the old part, replacing the screws and putting the rack back in the track.

Turned off water supply and electricity, removed the front kick panel on the dishwasher. Disconnected the water supply line, removed the two screws above the door securing the dishwasher to the underside of the countertop. Pulled the dishwasher out from under the counter, replaced the spring and balance link for each side. I found that th e new balance link kit that I purchased was better engineered that the origanal equipment.

Upper Dishrack and tines rusting out
18 of 23 people found this instruction helpful.

My KitchenAid dishwasher's upper dishrack had several places that were completing rusting out, just leaving the skins of the plastic coating in place. I ordered the upper dishrack - just the dishrack, none of the clips or other items shown in the schematic - and installed it pretty easily. One caution - this is JUST the upper dishrack. If you have two rows of tines that are clipped in and flip-flop back and forth on the left and right wider sides of the rack, you will need to order one or two pieces of part # PS 898500 as well. One of my tine rows was in salvageable shape, so I only needed to order one (in a second order upon discovering I it wasn't included). It wasn't difficult to figure out how the clips could come out and snap back in place. Just be careful, know that these are just plastic items and can break easily.

The ceramic seal had failed, allowing water to destroy the front motor bearing.

Removed dishwasher from under the counter and took it to my shop. With the washer on its side, I removed the motor, then the impeller and seal. I then disassembled the motor and replaced the front bearing(purchased separately). This required an arbor press. I then reassembled the motor and installed the new seal and impeller. Reassembled in reverse order. Reinstalled under the counter and made conections. Checked for leaks and proper operation.

Water pump motor was making a grinding noise

I had a repair guide for my dishwasher which helped. First I removed the water distribution system inside the dishwasher and then removed the door panel. Next I removed the front bottom access panel. I placed a pan under the pump and hoses to catch water when I removed the outlet hose. Very important here! One must remove the pressur e switch from the outlet port or else you can't get the pump clear of the washer tub. Next I removed the drain pump by releasing the catch and turning the pump counter clockwise. Now for one of the hard steps. I had to remove three pins which hold the pump assy to the wash tub. Two of them are out of sight so you have to weave you hand past all the hardware and "feel" for the back two. At this point the pump assy just lifts out. Remove the motor /pump by removing one bolt and turning it counter clockwise and withdrawing. I put the new one in. Don't forget to put the pump screen in as I missed this and had to redo the job. Reverse all the previous steps being careful to keep the motor guard out of the pump seal area. Use lots of silicon seal grease and check for leaks on first power up. It took me a couple of adjustments to get a leak-free seal.
