Ordered new ice maker from this site . Installation was very easy. Was happy to see that many electrical plugs were included. Chose the correct electrical plug and installed in 30 minutes. One note, be patient as it takes a while for ice maker to produce ice. When I heard the sound of ice dropping in the bin, I was very happy. Just in tim

We followed the video on the KitchenAid website. We turned off water valve at the wall, unplugged the refrigerator, removed the old icemaker by unscrewing the three mounting screws. We unplugged old icemaker from electrical source at back of refrigerator freezer compartment and removed it. We detached the on/off bar from the old icemak

er and installed it on the new icemaker. The new icemaker fit perfectly. We plugged in the electric wire to the existing power cord at the back of the refrigerator freezer compartment. We placed the new icemaker in the same position as the old, making sure the mounting screw holes were aligned. Plugged refrigerator back in and turned on the water. Works beautifully.

The repair was simple.
I first did a diagnosis of the optical cuircuits and found them good. The tray heated up and when resetting the moor controller, the water cyccled to fill the tray so the only other thing it could be was the motor controller.
removed the service door for the ice maker
I removed the wire ... Read more protectore screw and shroud
pulled the icemaker unit out and unplugged the unit
removed the motor controller end cap
unscrewed 3 screws holding the motor controller
removed and replaced the motor controller. ensured that all wire harness connector poiints were solid
reverse the above instructions and in 5 hours I was getting ice again!
$90 turned out to be a savings from the $250 it would have cost to have someone come out and look at the fridge.
I highly recommend to anyone who can read and use a screwdriver to perform this repair if you have diagnosed this as the root of your problem!

I removed the 2 screws on top and the one screw underneath holding the Ice Maker to the wall of freezer.I pulled the electrical connection from the wall next (wiggled it back and forth until it came out).
I matched it up to the picture from this site and ordered the replacement unit.

A good tip is to keep the old unit so you can configure the new unit the same. Although it was easy, this took me the longest of the entire job. Once this was done, it took me !0 minutes to plug the new unit into my fridge and then attach it back to the wall with the 3 screws. Not a hard job. Thanks

It actually took me longer to think about the repair than actually doing it. It was three screws, two upper that you just loosen and then one on the bottom that you remove. Pulled the unit out and disconnected the power. Slipped the new unit onto the two upper brackets, after connecting the power cord, tightened the bracket screws, reatta

Used a nutdriver and removed the lower mount nut, then loosened the the top two nuts and the icemaker lifted off, then unplugged the device and replugged it into the "old" plug(the new ones were not needed) then remounted it.
