stopped making ice

I looked up the PartSelection website. Found the parts from the sketches of units and reviewed the videos on repairs. Then I ordered the parts, altho I ordered the complete unit, instead of the control block that said was problem 59% of time. Following instructions replaced the ice maker. Then took apart the auger in the basket and though t I had an incomplete part, but upon closer inspection forund out it was correct. My only problem was that there was no instructions on how to get the block off end of shaft. Tried to impact it off, but by accident found out it screwed off. Then final repair went fast. Parts came fast and overall VERY happy with parts and repairs. They are heavier than original parts so should last longer.

Water Fill Cup Broke

  • Sam from Las Vegas, NV
  • A Bit Difficult

The Ice maker unit had to be removed and the shaft had to also be removed, which required dis-assembling the motor drive. The thickness of the shaft and the bearing fill cup prevents it from simply pushing it in place. Other than that I have Ice.

Filler tube broken and old tube frozen over
4 of 5 people found this instruction helpful.

this is a snap! 2 screws an a nut to tighten and it works like a charm. the filler tube in my Kenmore refer had broken off in the back. ( really bad location to put this in the beginning) if you push the refer to close to the wall you can break it off easily. remove the water line by loosing the nut and remove the hose from the fill tube ( This assumes you have already turned of the water supply or you are standing in a large puddle)remove the 2 screws that hold the filler tube in place. pull out the old filler tube in and slightly upright motion. replace the new fill tube into the same hole and replace the screws. replace the hose and tighten the nut, turn the water back on and check for leaks your done !!
doesn't that feel great?

Ice maker made no ice
5 of 8 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Michael from Santa Clarita, CA
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers
After taking apart the ice maker, the only obvious replacement was the motor assembly. I check various Internet sites and found the best price at PartSelect.

I removed the ice maker from the freezer after turning off the ice make switch. Removal was easy with only one screw holding in the entire assembly. The ice maker ha s rails that allow it to slide in and out like a drawer.

After R/R the motor assembly and returning the ice make to the freezer all that remiand was to see if it worked.

Within 10 minutes I had the wonderful sound of water filling the ice maker tray. Within 30 minutes of that, ICE!!!

Shopping, ordering and shipping of the part was fast and efficient. I'll go with PartSelect for all my future appliance needs.

Ice Maker didn't produce ice cubes.

  • 30 - 60 mins

It was not complicated but it took more squeezing and reaching into the narrow space than actually removing three screws and unplugging the electrical harness. But that was all that was necessary, to install, three screws held the unit in place and re-connect the electrical harness. It saved me about $100 in labor and the inconvenience of scheduling a service call and waiting for a week or so. The best part was that I ordered the unit on line on Tuesday eveining and it was at my home by Friday afternoon with no extra shipping charges. Great service!.
