Had issues with kitchen aid fridge/freezer being too cold and creating massive iceberg in freezer. Wrongly diagnosed by repair guy who replaced air damper. Issue continued and i insisted checking the thermister after months of issues. Resolved the problem. Now, i hear the compressor starting and then shutting off. After few minutes it will start properly. Seems to be holding proper temps, freezer might be a bit colder than it should be i’m using a thermometer and opening door to check temp. Any idea on what could be making compressor do the on/off issue? At this point i should replace but with all the repairs i’ve done i hate to get rid of if it’s simple fix or not serious. Thanks for any advice.

It sounds like it could be a faulty capacitor , this part helps the compressor kick on and off while maintaining a constant temperature to keep things frozen and cool in your unit. Lifted the front up onto a scrap 2x4 to get it off the ground and it had 1 bolt that you removed to get the old item off and replace with new assymbly and 1 bolt to re attach. removed flap door in front of icemaker...removed 3 screws with bolt heads...removed one additional screw with bolt head and ice unit slid out. I removed motor unit (pops out no screws). Replaced and had ice within 3 hours.
Thanks to the pictorial diagram, I was able to order correct parts. It was just a matter of removal of broken parts and replacing them.
