Compressor Start Relay WP2319792

When you plug in the fridge it will begin to make noise, but never get cool. When you open the door it will stop and will not turn back on.

RELAY-STRT (PS11770133) is listed as one that can fix the problem, but the installation video does not match my fridge.

I've replaced the capacitor (PS11757023), the compressor start relay (PS11740412), and condenser fan (PS1957416) and none of them have fixed the problem.

I really don't want to throw this fridge out. Please help! justin@jplt.com

Pulled the refrigerator out from the wall, I had unplugged it prior so it didn’t burn out the compressor. Put both new pieces together, I ordered both just in case they were both bad. Used the screwdriver and removed the screws from the bottom cover. Removed the silver wire thing, unplugged the wire connector and pulled out the old piece. Plugged the wire connector into the new piece and pushed the new piece into the silver prongs, replaced the silver wire thing, put the back on the refrigerator and replaced the screws and crossed my fingers.
Plugged it in, turned on the refrigerator and freezer on from inside the refrigerator and joila it started right up and is working. I am a 63 year old female, and had watched the video first on how to remove and replace it.

Took lower back cover off. Looked and observed for a few minutes to identify parts and removal. Five minutes later the job was complete. Older stainless steel unit now runs like new. Saved a lot of money... DIY

1) Went to site. 2)Read trouble shooting section for recommended replacement part. 3)Selected part. 4) Watched detailed installation video on part specifications. 5)Installed part. Refer runs like new. (Note: May have to restart installation video if audio does not work the first time.)

I have a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator/freezer, 12 years old. One day it just stopped cooling and there was water running under the fridge (melted the ice in the ice bucket). Checked the freezer fan and it was working. I also checked the condenser fan by checking air flow under the fridge; there was airflow, so it was working. Listened to the sound of refrigerator. Noticed the compressor was coming on and after a few seconds clicked (tripped). I figured either the compressor is burned or the Start Device is bad. Turned the plug off, took off the lower back cover using a nut driver. Removed the clip holding the Start Device and gently unplugged the Start Device from the compressor. Measured the resistance across compressor terminals. They should all read some resistance (10,6,4 ohm roughly). Also checked the continuity between each terminal and compressor shell. They were all open (means no shorting). I figured the Start Device should be bad. Ordered new part for $40, replaced it with old one, put the cover back on. Plugged the unit on and everything was working. Remember that it takes a while to cool both compartment, so do not expect the fridge/freezer to get cool quickly.

The star device that i recived was a little different, wasn't black like the original a recived a grey one and little bit smaller than the original but it fit perfect, and my frige is working good since i replaced.

After repairing a similar refrigerator's ice maker a few years ago, I thought I'd try it again. After some brief research online the compressor tested ok. I ordered the start relay and run capacitor and cleaned the coils. The parts arrived promptly and I installed them without a hitch. The fridge has been working great.

This is a side by side fridge. Both refrigerator and freezer quit working. I could here the combination start device click and try to start the compressor. It would shut back off within 5 seconds.Removed the lower rear cover on the fridge and cleaned the coils while it was off. Replaced the combination start device, plugged in the fridge, and it worked. What a relief!

I researched everything that I heard and saw on this forum. I realized that I was seeing and hearing the same problems that everyone was having. So instead of being an idiot and taking the fridge to the curb, I decided to spend 86.00 including shipping/handling on 2 small parts (start relay and capacitor). Best money I have spent. Saved me over $1000.00+ THANK YOU!!!! The 2nd best thing was that the parts came in the next day. I didn't expect it for approx 3-4 days. Excellent website and excellent service!!!

Power outage and both freezer and refrigerator stopped cooling. When you unplug the refrigerator and plug it back in the compressor would run for a few seconds then kick off. Replaced the combination start device and works great again. Third time I have used the site with positive results. Fast shipping and right part every time to fix that fixed my problem.
