As part of your general maintenance, you should also replace the valve if your appliance is more than 10 years old and the valve has never been changed. Use a valve wrench to remove the valve cap and use a core removal tool to pull out the core. Install the new valve body, core and cap and ensure they are securely fitted. Note that these parts are sold together.
