Drive coupling had broken teeth
1 person found this instruction helpful.
  • Andrew from Stony Brook, NY
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Screw drivers
Forget about the repair blogs. The coupling includes a repair instruction sheet. It actually took longer to read the sheet than it did to do the repair. Follow the repair sheet instructions. Very easy, however not intuitive.

Plastic blender coupling ears broken off
1 person found this instruction helpful.
  • Philip from SEQUIM, WA
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Pliers
Because the old coupling was so tightly screwed onto the shaft it was necessary to use very flat wire crimpers to slide between the old coupling and the blender housing to grip the shaft and immobilize it while pliers were used to grasp the old coupling and loosen it---rotate clockwise.

Shattered drive coupling on blender

  • Allan from Durham, CT
  • A Bit Difficult
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Wrench set
I looked on the Web for help in changing this part they suggested prying the part off with a screwdriver. This would work but I figured this approach was a little to brutal.I had a set of distributor wrenches and these had one that fit the shaft under the drive coupling Using the wrench to hold the shaft I used a small set of water pump p liers to remove the coupling. As the directions on the Web states this is a reverse thread. The whole project took all of five minutes to complete

Small Tabs Broken Off
1 of 2 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Ronald from Camarillo, CA
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Screw drivers
I utilized the "pound the coupling in a clockwise direction" to loosen the coupling. Two good "wackes" and it was loose. Installed new coupling. I found this method in the previous customer installation instructions on the site. Please note that my new part number is ps401661. This part works normally even though my model number did not list a part number, perhaps because my blender is an older model. Without the installation instructions site I would not have known that the thread was a "reverse thread". This site is very helpful. Good luck

Broken teeth on the drive coupling
1 of 2 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Denise from Brooklyn, NY
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Screw drivers
Since the coupling is threaded, it can be easily screwed on and off if you immobilize the shaft. If you don't have a tool that can do this (the space between the drive coupling and the body of the blender is only about 1/8"), you can insert a long bladed screwdriver into the vents on the bottom of the blender and into the motor. When yo u turn the coupling, the motor won't rotate and you can easily screw off the coupling (the threads are reversed, so turn the opposite way). Good luck!
Good
