This OEM spring is used to engage the starter recoil cam when pulling the pull cord. Installation is rated as "Easy" and requires a screwdriver. This spring is part of the recoil assembly. If broken you may have difficulty starting the engine, and may feel like it is not engaging at all. If broken, it should be replaced.

If you notice that the engine is stalling, and has reduced power, the baffle will likely need to be replaced. Remove the air filter cover to access the baffle. Detach the baffle from the housing and clean the housing. Inspect the air filter to verify that it is in good working condition and replace it as well if it is torn or clogged. Place the new baffle in the housing and secure it with the original fasteners. Each sold individually.
